28. He said "something inspiring" and I couldn't agree more
I don't hear Kerry doing much more than ripping Bush or his policies. Obviously that's appropriate, but no way it should be the central focus of every speech or campaign day.

It's pathetic when you can perfectly predict what Kerry and his commercials will say the next day; a reaction to whatever Bush or his ads said the day before. For months I've been pissed we have overlearned the Willie Horton lesson from 1988, constant swatting of the latest Bush attack instead of defining the issues on our own terms. Especially when almost every issue favors the Dem position.

Yes, I'm getting nervous, because I hosted debate watching parties this year similar to '96 and '00. The people in my home were near unanimous in describing Kerry's campaign as too negative and not providing a clear vision of what he would do. I gave them a piece of paper and asked them to write down Kerry's campaign slogan. Only 3 of 19 were able to come up with a version of "Stronger at Home, More Respected in the World." Get this, a majority returned BLANK SHEETS OF PAPER, OR A WISECRACK.

Unbleeping believable, I actually agreed with something Novak said, after Al Hunt's call for "something inspiring." Novak mentioned Kennedy in '60, and how he basically ignored Nixon on the stump, emphasizing positive visions of his own. I've been waiting for that from Kerry all year. The nation has made up its mind on GW. Notice how outside events, or a debate implosion from Bush himself, have lowered Bush's approval numbers. No indication they have ever moved based on something Kerry has said. Meanwhile, Kerry's favorability numbers are uncomfortably low, 39% in the most recent CBS poll.

I know we can count on Clinton beginning Monday. Once we hear him, Al Hunt's point will be crystal correct. I just hope Kerry steals plenty of Clinton's words and emphasis over the final week.

42. How about we need a President who can walk & chew gum at the same time, or
in other words, a president who can both keep us safe and fight for the middle class. John Kerry is that man and that is his message going into the home stretch.

48. I do agree. He has the "bush sux" meme down like a champ.
Perhaps JK is a bit gun-shy about going to positive after he got nailed coming out of the DNC. Remember, they played nice, only to get creamed in the next few weeks. Either way, the anxiety is powerful enough for Kerry to ride that and ride chimp out of office.

But it sure would be nice to tie things together, to close the deal, with a solid inspirational catch that will make people feel like they want to vote for him. We already feel it for sure. I've heard more of the populist "people not the powerful" theme these past few days, and i like it. Good to build on that. This regime's dirty business lends itself so well to that. But think "bridge to the 20th century" Clinton theme from 1996.

25. Why CNN is relevant, unfortunately!
CNN's electoral vote map, polls that they are citing, and Robert Novak (who we all know and love) are already beginning to call the election for Bush. On election night, will not CNN have the highest ratings as everyone watches the returns? Will not the opinions of the pundits and the exit polls be used to justify the results, even if they are questioned due to corruption?

26. Novak thinks Bush will lose
He didn't say so out right, in fact he said Bush will win, but he was so defensive about it and ended by saying "but if the young people and non white voters really vote this year, Bush will lose." Giving himself a reason to be wrong.

beltway and they know nothing of what's really going on in America..

Like Kerry's Electrifying Rally with Alexandra and Salazar in Pueblo, Colorado today..OUTSIDE the beltway..where People have real lives!

It was very emotional and just watching the People in the crowd..you could see from the expressions on their faces that Kerry does have a FUCKING MESSAGE.

:dem: KERRY HAS OUR BACK! AND WE HAVE HIS BACK! :dem:

And we want to leave the Earth in a Better place than we found it!
