Will Clinton put Kerry over the top in the polls next week?
I have a feeling Clinton is going to steal the spotlight away from Bush BIG TIME and that can only be good for Kerry. Also, with Clinton's heart problems I think people like him even more now and he brings a certain nostalgia of the good old days when everyone had jobs and we were at peace. Clinton is like a Rock and Roll star! Independents and people in the middle LOVE him!

"good old days" of Clinton

2. Yes...
and I hope they both speak in Arkansas!!

Arkansas is very important! If we lose Wisconsin and Iowa, Arkansas can make up for it after we take Ohio and New Hampshire!

I think he could energize Democrats, especially any wavering Dems or Independents who are still somehow undecided but remember, as you said, the "good ole days!"

but I think the RW flying monkeys will trot out the long list of fabricated red herrings that the Big Dog had to endure during those eight years. I don't like the idea of having to waste time countering all that crap, but on balance, having Bill Clinton on the campaign trail is a GOOD thing.

27. yeah but, i wouldn't still be married to him
Well, I think she takes a lot of irrelevant nonsense from people over being to much of a careerist and not enough of a sweet little wifey type. I think she's playing against that a bit for sure, and I think it's really sad that she has to. So many people think she's hard and brittle, and yeah, I'm thinking it's a nice little bit of warm/fuzzy p.r. for her.
But, I don't think the state their marraige is/was important to the future of this country. Her level of concern is sort of a non-issue slipperly slope to me. I dislike judging either of them in this regard. I sat across a very large room from them for three hours and they never touched or spoke to each other the whole time. What did I think of that? I thought it was pretty funny, actually! How much do I think she cares? It doesn't matter a bit. Except maybe to you, girl.

39. The issue, which you seemed to raise, is her sincerity.
Why did you feel the need to jump in and skewer her, implying that her concern is faked, if the topic doesn't interest you?

Maybe I'm being a bit thin-skinned, but I have a lot of respect for Hillary, and you comment sounded to me like the start of a typical rethug rant, trying to tear her down as a way of demeaning Democrats in general.

41. Someday women will not be judged this way.
Not at all, no ranting, and believe it or not I love Hill, too. I was being cynical.
Because as a feminist, I don't like how the good or bad sides of her marriage have so deeply effected public opinion about her. It' amazing how many moderately conservative men hate her, and it's so completely sexist. She just ain't enough of a quiet supportive wife/ mother for their tastes. It's appalling. Someday women will not be judged this way.
I don't mean to say her concern was necessarily fake. I just find it sad that she felt the need to put it out there. She has suffered a lot by people poking their noses into her relationship w/ Bill, and maybe she was trying to repair that.
Somebody else brought it up as if it was truly significant. It's just personal gossip USN' it? That's why i answered in a cynical way. I think we ought to stay out of being distracted by the personal stuff.
What I'm a bit thin skinned about is women having to prove to the media that they are sufficiently caring wives, and I do feel there was a little bit of that going on here.
I'm glad I don't know what a re thug is, because I'm sure I'd be offended! I'm only a newbie because I have been too busy volunteering on the campaign since August. I'm only here because I have laryngitis after making a few hundred calls for Kerry Fri and Sat, so you are way off the mark. You are hearing what you want to hear. I am not trying to tear her down. I am making fun of the expectations people like you are holding her to in her private life.
At any rate, I hope you understand now that I love both Bill and Hill, but their relationship? It's not worth another post to me.

20. clinton will suck bush's air.....
Bubba knows what he is doing, He is going to be the scrappy little bulldog or whatever they call it that edwards is too darn nice to be and he will play it just right. He is going to reach a lot of fence sitters who need to be charmed a bit, want that folksy whatever it is..
But most importantly he is going to speak eloquently and at length at how W dropped the ball he was given regarding the threat of terrorism. Who was it in the admistration that scoffed and called Clinton obsessed w/ Osama after the Cole attack? Clinton worked on this alot, was obsesssed with what was going on with Al Queda,.

Clinton going to show everybody how Bush left us unprotected and unprepared in a way that will totally disgust the nation. George is not going to be able to claim he's protecting us from anything once Bill is done. It's the last card being played and Bush is going down for the count once they here Bill's account of the "September 10 th" thinking that was going on in the Whitehouse pre-Bush.

It's going to be so great! More momentum! This thing could actually be over on Nov 2nd!

23. Welcome to DU!

Great post. I agree with most if not all of it. All of
what you say is true.

But truth has very little weight with the media whores who
babble on about Clinton and oxygen. It's a meme that they
repeat endlessly, and will do doubt repeat on Monday.

28. I'm hopeful
Thanks foor the warm welcome! I have a lot of hope he's going to to keep himself on message. At least people have gotten to know Kerry in the last month. My thinking is that they have been saving Bill to bash him on the Osama/ protecting our country issue. because Clinton knows where all the bodies were pre - Sept 10th- and how they slept through his alarms. And I think it's going to be worth quite a few points, becuase it'll be news to a lot of people.
Here's hoping!
thx again!

34. It's just that Kerry's doing just fine
on his own, thank you very much. You know?

Having Billy back is such a huge risk. Great rewards
as you point out. But a big risk.

See, I was always a Gore girl. I thought Clinton was
okay, but I had a huge crush on Al Gore. No accounting
for taste, eh?

Anyway, DU is a great place, and it's my pleasure to
make the first good impression.

Welcome.

37. gore and clinton
I loved Gore too, but I thought one of his biggest mistakes was joining in on the judgement of Bill. He didn't seem to be really loyal to me. I think he should have insisted the Monica thing was a non-issue. Something for Hill and Bill to work out, and no reflection on his ability to lead the nation. I wish he had stuck up for Bill and not put that distance between them. Oh well.
thanks for the welcome!

Top members of President George W. Bush's administration are frequent visitors to key swing states ahead of the November 2 US election bringing accusations from Democrats that the taxpayer is subsidising the Bush campaign.

16. Love the Big Dawg!
The Clinton years were GOOD years, despite the shameful efforts of the repugs to drag him and our nation down, and I think his presence on the campaign trail will be great for us.

I don't know about the Undecideds (if such a species actually exists in significant numbers) but I think what President Clinton brings is a jolt of energy for us, the Democratic base. It's been a long, hard run, and it's great to have the Big Dawg cheering us on for the final mile!

25. A theory a fundie freeper acquaintance threw on me:
"Clinton will introduce Kerry, revving-up the crowds. Kerry will get-up and speak. In the middle of Kerry's speech, Clinton (who'll be standing on-stage) will "fake an event" and be rushed to a hospital, stopping the event cold. For the following 24 to 48 hours, the news media will be all about ClintonClintonClinton, and the campaign will be frozen for that time period."

(I'm paraphrasing here.)

In her wildest dreams, maybe.. :P

Any country that is a permanent member of the UN will not be able to furnish a citizen as the Secretary General. It's a wonderful thing though to have Big Dog as President of the World. The best we Americans could do would be to repeal the 22nd amendment!
