Rummy: It's not that we didn't plan, it's just that we work "ad hoc"
WASHINGTON (AFP) - US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has implicitly admitted the Pentagon had no specific plans for handling a widespread insurgency in the aftermath of the US-led invasion of Iraq, but still insisted US pre-war planning was "good."

Rumsfeld also suggested the controversy over missing Iraqi explosives will probably amount to no more than a storm in a teacup and compared it to other oversold stories that circulated during the war.

(snip)

He said all those goals had been accomplished, but he did not mention guerrilla operations among the contingencies the military had planned for, and referred to them as a problem that was being handled on an ad hoc basis.

"It is a truth that it requires continuously adapting what we're doing - our tactics and our strategies - to meet the problems on the ground, the security problem on the ground," Rumsfeld said.

In other words, they not only don't have a plan; they not only don't know what they're doing; they're not just flip-floppers, they are FLOUNDERING!!

1. Edwards recently asked - "who's minding the store?" No Shit.
Never mind playing hookey from your job in the NSA or Homeland Security Department, and elsewhere, so you can go out and hit the campaign trail. This guy's even IN the store and he's not minding it. Ad hoc?!?!?!? Sounds like hoc a loogie to me.

4. Yeah -- "It just didn't involve anybody fighting back."
"Other than that fighting part, it was a great plan... "

6. The media should have asked all these questions
before the war and demanded answers. It's their fault.

As for BushCo, they should be impeached today and arrested tomorrow.

7. Good God, have these men not read Clauswitz?
Sun Tzu?
Anything?

"No Plan survives first contact with the enemy." - Von Clauswitz

"A general must ask himself several times each day, 'what would I do if the enemy suddenly appeared on my flank?', If he has no answer there is something wrong with his dispositions." - Napoleon

"If anything can go wrong, it will." Capt. Murphy, USAF
