New Minn Poll: Kerry 49% *42% Nader 2%
A new poll by St. Cloud State University shows Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry is slightly ahead of President Bush in Minnesota.

The statewide poll released Wednesday shows 49 percent of likely voters surveyed favor Kerry, while 42 percent support Bush. Ralph Nader received support from 2 percent of those surveyed, according to a report in Thursday's edition of the St. Cloud Times.

4. "Slightly ahead"
Again, if it were Bush ahead by 7, he would be "far out ahead of Kerry."

9. Minnesota has voted Dem since the begining of time.
Mike Dukacus (sp), carried this state along with his other two electoral votes. I was never worried about loosing it. Wisconsin and Iowa almost always vote Dem as well. I think they will come around in final days.

18. MN and DC were the ONLY ones going for Mondale in '84.
Edited on Wed Oct-27-04 11:16 PM by elperromagico
The rest of the country - yes, even Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Hawaii - went to Rappin' Ronnie Reagan.

MN has gone Dem in every election since 1976.

Also Massachusetts, of course. Came close in California too, IIRC.

13. I lived many years in MN
I am confident that MN is voting Dem this year. You can take it to the bank. I am a little worried about the state of my birth, WI, but I hope and expect that they too will get their shit together and vote Kerry on Nov. 2.

I hear what you're saying, but I value accuracy over polemics. What do you make of today's results of the U of M poll?

University of Minnesota
Humphrey Institute Survey

President George W. Bush and Senator John Kerry remain deadlocked in Minnesota, with third party candidates drawing the support of six percent of likely voters. Kerry is most hurt by support for Independent Ralph Nader and Libertarian Michael Badnarik, although some likely Bush backers are drawn to third party candidates as well.

17. In all honestly
I don't think Kerry is up by 7 points in the state. It's probably a smaller lead of around 3-4%.

However, Nader simply will not get the same % of the vote he got in '00. If so, it proves the far left is completely and absolutely BRAINDEAD.

Also, I can't see Nader's share increasing as the election approaches...but the disturbing thing is that Nader is campaigning in those states and while the likleyhood is very low, that may be happening.

19. Kerry will carry the state. Period.
There is a contingent of Nader supporters that will NOT vote for anything/anyone they see as a "sellout" to their cause, and to them, Kerry is as bad as *. Figure one to two percent of the vote--probably the largest Nader support (per capita) in the nation. Minnesota is a "Sure Thing" for Kerry, and you can take that to the bank. Talk to * supporters and you can sense the fear. They are resigned to losing.

FWIW, I am a lifelong MN resident.

20. Nice to hear that you are confident
It worries me so much that Kerry could win OH - the top prize, but still end up losing because of a Gore state that was really close (IA, WI, NM). I'm not as worried about MN as the others, but it does worry me a bit.

I doubt if it was ever seriously in play.

The Republicans barely beat old Walter Mondale in one of our worst years ever, 2002.

33. Friggin' typical
Shrub is ahead by 2 points in some poll, and they say he has "a commanding lead".

Kerry leads by SEVEN, and they call it 'slightly ahead'.

And if Kerry leads by less than four, they call it "dead even."

I wonder if these idiots even read the words they're spewing.
