Dear Friends
In light of yet another desperate attempt by Republicans to create a diversion from real campaign issues and their flailing race, I can't resist the temptation to cast some levity with the famous Richard Nixon quote, "I'm not a thief." The glaring difference between Nixon and me is that he WAS a liar, but you know me and you know that I'm not a thief, or a liar and I'm certainly not stupid enough to "steal" yard signs from my opponent in broad daylight on a busy street!
Here are the facts:
* The R's hired a private detective to follow my wife and me to try and find something they could fabricate into an issue.
* As in other races around the state, they planted illegal yard signs without permission, this time in front of my town home complex. Then the "detective" hid in the bushes and waited. What they did catch was my wife, Ginger, removing those illegal signs and throwing them away.
* As I said in the Gazette, "this sign dispute represents the pettiness and depths of desperation the Republicans are reaching to defeat me."
This dying last-gasp attempt by the Republican Party proves frantically they want to target my race and remove me from office. And it will fail.
I intend to continue my positive campaign, talking about the important issues and fighting for the values that you care about:
* Affordable healthcare for everyone
* A strong Colorado economy
* Protecting and preserving Colorado's beautiful environment
* A good job with benefits for every person
* Providing and protecting adequate funding for Colorado's public schools
* A college education for every deserving student.
Your support all along my campaign trail has been strong and impassioned. I need your continued robust backing so that I can carry on being "The People's Voice...The People Choice" for another two years.
If you would like to talk to me directly, please call me at 460-0580.
Yours sincerely,
Michael
