1. Louis Black on the Daily Show tonight
was hilarious in comparing Kerry hunting last week (and Cheyne's bitchin about it) with the Bush commercial, he said something like "well if there are wolves out there I'm voting for Kerry, he's got a shotgun!"

2. Yeah, it's a real non-starter.
I hope they didn't pay too much money for it -- it's a dud.

3. yeah, it was pretty freakin' lame.
When it takes you a minute to figure out what the message of a campaign commercial was supposed to be, you know that commercial has failed.

That last scene with the wolves looked like an ad for the Bronx Zoo, not a commercial trying to scare the public into believing that the big bad monster terrorists are out to get you.

5. Hey, I use to work in feature films
if you want to create fear, you carefully control your color palette. I've only seen the ad, I haven't heard it, but the warm, sunny tones, the lush green of the forest, and the beauty-even "cuteness"- of the wolves made it seem more like a Sierra Club ad than anything meant to unnerve anyone. Very unprofessional, IMHO.

6. Agreed, nothing threatening at all with the imagery they used.
Someone GOP hack is sitting on a fat paycheck and laughing about his quarter day worth of work. Self interest beats party politics most of the time for these folks. It's one of the weaknesses of the Republican Party.

8. well, they conned the footage

The people filming it were told it was for an environmental ad or something, and they used a tamed wolf pack kept in an enclosure. They weren't wary and didn't check up on the client and literally did a Sierra Club type of shot.

The point of the B/C ad is to 'get to' very ignorant, generally elderly, people who can be scared with pretty much anything they can recognize and associate with danger. IOW, the feeble-minded dopes that won them their 2002 elections by believing all the silly crap they claimed then about That Demon Saddam Hussein.

7. Off topic but I have a newbie question
Why do DUers call Cheney "Crashcart"? I don't get it.
