Redskin's Fans Can You Lose one for the Kerry Team?
Edited on Thu Oct-28-04 07:06 AM by MariaS
As a die-hard Bear FANatic I find myself in the unusual predicament of rooting for Chicago's ultimate rival The Green Bay Packers.:puke:
But I will suck it up and cheer for the Cheeseheads with all my heart.
Hell has froze over in my house. Can Redskins fans root for Green Bay to win on Sunday's. Does it help to know that Gibbs & Brunell are Pro Bush. If a Bear fan can do it it's a piece of cake for Washington Fans.

Redskins May Predict Presidential Winner

For Kerry to win, the Redskins have to lose on Sunday — at least according to a bizarre statistical correlation that's been accurate for seven decades....

1. Being a die hard Skins fan
I don't think we got a good chance of winning anyway. Great to have Gibbs back but I am only hopeful to break even this year anyway. And yes I would gladly lose if this were true.

3. This is BS
First of all, you probably don't have much to worry about. The Redskins don't have the personnel to compete with good teams yet. It will take Gibbs a couple of years to repair the damage done in the last decade.

But more important, you are maligning a very good man when you associate Gibbs with Bush. While I'm sure he is far more conservative than I am, he has ALWAYS stayed out of politics. During the height of the Iran Contra scandal, the Reagan team consistently tried to use the (then) successful Redskins as a smoke screen, and Gibbs wouldn't have it. At one point, Ollie North showed up at a Redskins practice (with reporters) and when Gibbs was asked to comment, he said something like "who the hell is he, anyways."

Gibbs is very religious, but apolitical in his public life. I still live near D.C. and I've heard nothing from him about this election. He's got his own concerns right now (a 2 and 4 record).

4. I didn't just make this crap up
This is from the yahoo article

"Gibbs said the statistic doesn't really mean anything, but he can at least pretend that it does — because he's solidly in the Bush camp."

5. Skins fan all my life

and I'll be rooting for the Packers. You think 4 more years of BushCo is worth 1 Skins win? NO Way!

Btw, so far I have read that Gibbs, Jansen, Brunell are Bush supporters (all rich white men).

Smoot is a Kerry guy.

8. I'd rather cheer on my perennial losers (Bengals)
... than the team with the blatantly racist team name and its Repuke-loving dynasty of owners and coaches.

I have been a Redskin fan for over 40 years. I have seen them play at Griffith Stadium, RFK, and now Fedex Field. I used to call in sick the morning after a Skins loss (that part I finally outgrew), but still live and die with the Burgundy and Gold. But I say, "Why take a chance?" If there's anything to this, and there certainly is a history, then GO CHEESEHEADS!!
