Has *ANY* media reported the new video of explosives at Al QaQaa?
For those of you who missed it, a Minnesota local news station has video which they believe to show explosives from Al QaQaa on April 18, 2003. If true, this completely blows away the Bush spin.

But has this been reported *ANYWHERE* today, other than liberal blogs?

40. What would you consider confirmation?
How about the person who took the video saying they are authentic. Would that be enough? It is obvious to me that they are what they claim to be just by the labeling on the containers. Just because they are not on the Major Media doesn't mean they are not getting out and pretty soon that will be the news whether they are authenticated or not. Just like the LIES from the Swift Boat Vets. It was the fact they were made that was news not the content. And the same should hold true with these videos. The news is that they are being spread around the internet.

This is driving me NUTS...

I am almost positive that Al Qaqaa was one of the sites where the whore media reported (falsely) that they had found WMD back in the early summer of 03 (the old pending tests line that they used to give about once a week and then the tests were always negative)

I cannot find any of the old articles I want on the web because now there are thirty million listings about "Al Qaqaa" on google! Arrrrggghhh!

21. Be patient people
The NYT, Post and the news networks have to verify the video. live. You have to wait until someone does some legwork and the anchors are briefed.

I bet something will be on the evening news. The anchors on live can't do reporting while they are on live. Everyone, even Bushie, knows it is out there. Word travels fast. But they can't have a report up in 2 hours wihtout having someone analyze the tape. Did someone ping drudge? (LMAO).

If this is true, it is an explosive story.

Station 5 Eyewitness News passed the footage on to the U.S. government to determine whether any of the pictured material is related to the missing explosives.

C-SPAN's watching me right now; editors from Nat'l Review & Vanity Fair are on, talking about political books and election influence. This story was just mentioned while talking about Bernard Goldberg's Bias. One of them (not sure which, sorry) speculated that if Bush loses the election, the RW blogosphere is going to blame the "liberal media" for trotting out this story.

If they do, someone's going to have to remind the idjits the story originated on an independently owned ABC affiliate whose owning family are Republican contributors.

49. New info from KSTP: IAEA seals on doors in video!
http://kstp.com/article/stories/S3741.html?cat=1

A 5 Eyewitness News crew in Iraq may have been just a door away from materials that could be used to detonate nuclear weapons. The evidence is in videotape shot by Reporter Dean Staley and Photographer Joe Caffrey at or near the Al Qaqaa munitions facility.

The video shows a cable locking a door shut. That cable is connected by a copper colored seal.

A spokesperson for the International Atomic Energy Agency told 5 Eyewitness News that seal appears to be one used by their inspectors. "In Iraq they were used when there was a concern that this could have a, what we call, dual use purpose, that there could be a nuclear weapons application."

Experts who have studied the images say the barrels on the tape contain the high explosive HMX, and the U.N. markings on the barrels are clear.

"I talked to a former inspector who's a colleague of mine, and he confirmed that, indeed, these pictures look just like what he remembers seeing inside those bunkers," said David Albright, president of the Institute for Science and International Security in Washington.

The barrels were found inside sealed bunkers, which American soldiers are seen on the videotape cutting through. Inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency sealed the bunkers where the explosives were kept just before the war began.

"The seal's critical," Albright said. "The fact that there's a photo of what looks like an IAEA seal means that what's behind those doors is HMX. They only sealed bunkers that had HMX in them."

It remains unclear how much HMX was at the facility, but what does seem clear is that the U.S. military opened the bunkers at Al-Qaqaa and left them unguarded. Since then, the material has disappeared.

ABC News' Martha Raddatz filed this report for World News Tonight.

58. AP still has it buried in their foolish Rumsfeld denial story
as follows:
Meanwhile, an ABC affiliate in Minneapolis that had a crew embedded with the 101st Airborne Division during the war released a video that it said showed soldiers examining explosives at part of the Al-Qaqaa facility on April 18, 2003. But the television station said it remained unclear if the explosives were the high-energy explosives that are missing.

Previously, the unit's spokesman has said it did not find any of the high-energy explosives, but some less-dangerous explosives.
(more bs, but it's above rather than below; this is literally the end of the article)

71. NBC carried it this a.m. and damn if Matt Lauer didn't rub it in
Paul Bremer's face. Also shown was Rudy G.'s video of blaming the troops.

Blood in the water. *sniff*

72. Long story on NPR this morning
NPR reported on this story about 6:15am Eastern Standard this morning and added their own investigative reporting to it. The story was conclusive that the ammo was there when the military first arrived.

Don't know if they've repeated the story later in the morning. Can't find it on their web site.

I was listening to WUNC out of Chapel Hill, NC.

Video Shows G.I.'s at Weapon Cache
By WILLIAM J. BROAD and DAVID E. SANGER

Published: October 29, 2004

Videotape made by a television crew with American troops when they opened bunkers at a sprawling Iraqi munitions complex south of Baghdad shows a huge supply of explosives still there nine days after the fall of Saddam Hussein, apparently including some sealed earlier by the International Atomic Energy Agency.
