I think they're irrational and ignorant. However, I don't like labeling people "anti-American" or "traitors". I really had a hard time when the RWingers used slurs like that to describe people who disagreed with them. What makes a person "American" anyways, and how do someone actually become "anti-American"? Even if they do do things that hurt America, I doubt most of them want to be "anti-American" and "traitors"; they're just brain-washed by propaganda that take advantage of their fears. In my opinion, it's better to promote understanding rather than spread more prejudice using scare tactics because we need to start mending the divide in our nation.

That having been said, you ARE half-right. The kind of illiberal (not anti-liberal), racist, homophobic, nativist, chauvinistic, misogynistic (even by FRWomen!), screeds they publish, while not at all uncommon in political debate, are nevertheless profoundly unAmerican at their core.

It doesn't rise to the level of treason, though, and let's not cheapen the term by applying it to people who don't deserve it. Most Republican rank and file want what they believe to be best for America.
