Give it up. Rove isn't all-seeing, all-knowing.

Rove hasn't "tricked" anybody into anything. He is pissing himself right now--the Repukes did everything they could to avoid talking about Osama Bin Laden.

Do you think Rove *wants* the news media reminding all the American people of Osama and Bush's FAILURE to capture or kill him?

1. Exactly!
Seeing OBL now is BAD, bad, bad.

He's "marginalized." Bush doesn't care where he is... blah, blah.

6. It kills me that some people are determined to see
a trick by Rove in EVERYthing.

Osama splashed on the TV screen non-stop is Rove's worst fear.

5. Not just those here
Apparently Randi Rhodes was playing the doomsayer role this afternoon. I think that's probably where some of the cowardly stampede here came from.

9. Can I get an AMEN!
Thank you. Sometimes I feel like I am the only person who hasn't bought into the Evil Genius act. People, Evil Genius is part of Rove's PR for himself. He's plenty evil, but he only WISHES he were a genius.

C ya,

The Plaid Adder

12. Amen!
I don't think even Rove is going to be able to pull this one out even if they pull OBL out of their asses at this point.

10. As evidence for your theory:
On Lou Dobbs, reporter said white house tried to suppress this tape but were unsuccessful. If the tape had been helpful to *, they would have pushed it.

19. I like hearing that!
That's encouraging. It backs up my own feeling, which is that the last thing they want is to remind us of Osama out there mocking us. No, I think they would have preferred an anonymous terror threat, like, say, that guy last night. Scares people into being scared of everyone.

This is different. Reminds us that the mastermind behind 9/11 is still out there planning new attacks and Bush sent soldiers to Iraq.

I would think the White House wanted Osama dead or in custody. This kind of Osama isn't in their interest.

It just seems so Rovian to remind people to be afraid. Osama is still lurking "out there" to get you. Obviously Rove didn't order up the tape, but I would NOT be surprised if the WH didn't approve of trotting out the bogeyman's face one last time to remind the sheep to fear the wolves.

on edit: #10 showed up while I was writing this reply, so maybe the WH was flat-footed on this story like all the rest. It still seems like a Rovian distraction and reminder, though.

This is a one-day story, unless we drag it out ourselves.

The focus this weekend will be election coverage and feel-good Halloween stuff.

NORMAL people who don't freaking LIVE on their computers (yes, I admit it... I'm not normal either... don't flame me) are more interested in the election than this. It's us political junkies who go berserk.

And it's Friday. Had this broken before Qaqaa, it might have been different.

18. I merely revile him.
And after this election, with luck, his ticket as a political consultant will be punched for good.
