She went on to say that Rove was whining about Holbrooke, Ickes and Kerry "trashing" Bush about Tora Bora, thus this issue now becomes political fair game.

However, Rove also said that while Bush would respond to Kerry's charges about Tora Bora, he would NOT specifically talk about OBL or the tape.

Sounds like Rove is playing this very safe. He knows that it could blowback very badly if Bush really tried to hammer on the subject of OBL when....

1. He hasn't caught him in spite of all that brave talk
and
2. He earlier said that OBL didn't really matter.

Bush is sort of in a corner here.

Say, if rove knew all along that the obl tape will be aired today, why didn't ** talk more about obl and big and bad he is in order to set the american people up and get them all scared? (of course, he can still tell people that he is werking herd to look for him) That way, when they watch this tape, instead of pondering why in the world this guy is not arrested yet, the people will freak out big time.

If I were rove, I would use another october surprise. Kerry already pointed out to anyone w/an open mind that obl is still out there, and that the man should be the #1 focus of our efforts. Instead, this tape shows that we couldn't give a )!@*)$#*) about obl, since the man is still looking all calm and relaxed. (not traits of a desperate criminal w/us special forces chasing him I may add) The last thing I want is to re-emphasize Kerry's point. What I would do if Iwere rove, is to intercept some al-quaeda communication that somehow hinted at a terrorist attack, and then broadcast this communication to the world. More effective that way.

11. I'll tell you something I noticed

Early pictures of OBL showed a VERY thin, long nose. Today's tape showed an Osamw with a wider nose. Not as bad as the infamous "fat Osama," but certainly different than the pictures we saw of him prior to 9-11.

It is very hard to see what he can do to gain any benefit from this development.

His boy failed to catch or kill Bin Laden; this tape is only a reminder of the incompetence of the cowboy, and a cause to reprise all his posturing antics in the matter.

The dead of the Twin Towers have not been avenged; their murderer continues to breathe and walk free and put on airs he is a world leader. The person rersponsible for this is George W. Bush....
