Drudge has one aim: To defeat Democrats...
Edited on Sat Jan-17-04 04:46 PM by jchild
It's a well-known fact that voters take into consideration a candidate's physical appeal when they make the decision whom to support.

I was finishing my MA in history when Bush II ran in 2000. I found it amazing that a couple of people in my department were voting for Bush (gasp...a LIBERAL department) because they thought he was handsome. No consideration of his platform, just, "He is soooo handsome," or "he looks like a nice guy."

Drudge knows this, so he only posts the most unflattering photos of Democratic candidates he can find. OR he finds photos, and then stretches them or condenses them so that they make the candidate look short and squatty or abnormally loooong.

I submit to you the two photos that are on his front page right now:

Please don't let this thread degrade into something Drudge would be proud of. EACH candidate has physical assets and physical liabilities.

I think it is a shame that Drudge finds the liabilities, though, and those are the images that he force-feeds to the American electorate.

That's all I have to say. Just remember that Drudge is a RNC tool out to defeat us.

And on edit, after seeing the so-called Drudge scoop about Dean in the other thread, let me request that we quit posting Drudge scoops and wait until his "leads" appear in substantive news sources, not on the Drudge Rumour Report. We know that his so called scoop on Clark two days ago was completely debunked and he pulled that newsflash in shame, with major egg on his face. Let's quit using Drudge at all. I beg of you. You are only helping the RNC when you depend on Drudge's scoops.

1. Drudge
I've noticed that too, while pcitures of Bush are intended to make him look like a muscular He-Man.

Your colleagues conclusions are puzzling, seeing as how Gore is taller than Bush and he is a fairly well-built, toned man.

2. so what should we do?
Vote for the best looking candidate to beat Bush?

Is this a beauty contest?

Hell, let's not have anymore debates. It's time for the swimsuit competitions!

4. No, absolutely not...
Let's vote on candidates on substance.
But let's also realize that Drudge is stooping to the lowest tactics because he realizes that LOTS of voters consider physical appeal.

6. That's what got Kennedy elected...
JFK looked a lot better than the glowering, five o'clock shadow Nixon. It just happened that he was a better candidate too, but many, many people voted for him because of his outward appearance.

The same is probably true of Clinton compared to the pale Waspy Poppy Bush and Bob Dole.

7. We KNOW this is how Reagan got elected...his movie-star looks and his
casted lines: "It's morning in America."

3. And we should stop using Drudge as a reliable source
Remember he does to his stories, what he does to the photos: edits or distorts them.

Don't rely on Drudge for anything authentic.

5. Exactly.
Even if he has a "scoop" on his website, we should wait until it appears in the mainstream media.

IF he will distort photos, he will distort news.

9. Yes. He depends on the stupidity of Republicans to support his site
The RNC knows that his segment of the readership will believe his bullshit, so they and their ilk are his major supporters.

Goddam it I wish some DUers wouldn't resort to using Drudge as a source. There's a thread in here afloat right now with another Drudge rumor and people are actually responding to it more than to this thread asking people to use their heads!

Wait until Drudge's rumor appears in the Times and then post it here, but quit posting Drudge NEWSFLASHES--those who do it are doing the RNC's work for them.

And I say this as a Clark supporter.
