What is this landslide talk?
We did not get beaten that badly. Had 150,000 people more people had voted for Kerry in OH, we would have won. Okay, Bush got the popular vote. 51% love him and 49% hate him. That's not a fucking mandate. That's not a landslide! Sure, he'll rule w/ an iron fist now because his head is the size of Texas now, but the truth is, a lot of people still hate him. If he had won w/ 60% and won 49 states, then I'd say "fine, we're got our asses handed to us", but we didn't. GAAAAHHHHHHH!

3. Mandate my ass...
Dewey vs. Truman was not this close, either in terms of popular vote or electoral vote...

Popular vote

1948 Harry S. Truman Democratic 24,179,345 49.7%
1948 Thomas E. Dewey Republican 21,991,291 45.2%

2004 George W. Bush Republican 59,269,524 51.5%
2004 John F. Kerry Democratic 55,738,995 48.5%

Electoral votes

1948 Harry S. Truman Democratic 303 531 57.1%
1948 Thomas E. Dewey Republican 189 531 35.6%

2004 George W. Bush Republican 286+ 538 53.2%
2004 John F. Kerry Democratic 252+ 538 46.8%

+ - (I can't bring myself to use a *) = assuming shitforbrains wins? New Mexico and Iowa.

This information was told to me by a staunch repuke friend of mine, who is very alarmed at the use of the word "mandate". (Duh...)

Do not roll over for these people...Fight back...

We need a way to stop hate radio!!! That is what is brainwashing our countrymen!

7. It's relative
Compared to 2000, where Gore won the popular vote and was robbed in the electoral college, this is a "landslide."

Of course, it's BS. Bush claimed a mandate last time, it's no surprise he's claiming another one.

10. We did get our asses handed to us
A president with this record should have been defeated by 10 million votes, minimum. He was a fish in a barrel, and we missed.

11. In a rational environment, yes
Logically, he should have lost BADLY. If you look around, however, rationality and logic have been replaced by fear and dogma. Half this country has lost its mind for some reason I can't pinpoint but a VERY significant minority have retained rationality. He does NOT have a mandate.

12. But that is the environment we faced
And we knew we faced it going in. If rational arguments weren't going to work, we needed to use other kinds of arguments.

He might not have a mandate, but he'll act like he does. And the Dems should act like they gave it to him.

13. He will act like has a mandate
He acted like he had one when he lost the popular vote. He'll take care of himself, i'm not worried. The campaign made a lot of mistakes, I will acknowledge that but for us to accept that he has a mandate is ridiculous. Our leadership is lame and I know they won't stand up to his egotistical, idiotic, evil ass but its up to us to do something about that.
