All they would have to do to beat her is successfully make a case for the fact that the right wing smear machine would bury her in lies and innuendo and eventually tank her campaign. They have already had incredible success demonizing her.

The very thought disgusts me. I actually like Hillary, but she and her husband have spent such psychic energy trying to be acceptable to those who only want to destroy them that they've lost whatever moral compass they may have ever had.

Why didn't Bill campaign more? He wasn't shut out like Gore did in a fit of fear-filled idiocy in '00. Yeah, he couldn't campaign more due to a serious health problem, but he could have been much more vocal in the press and media, and he wasn't. His criticism and disagreements with the campaign were also leaked with shocking speed to the media.

Enough.

He pulled this party to the right, thinking that the right would play nice, and even as they still thirst for his destruction, he thinks this will work. Hillary, an ex-young Goldwater Republican, although she's got her heart in the right place, still thinks that appeasing the forces of hate is possible. This is ridiculous. On basic grounds of perception alone, she's not sentient enough to win, and even if she could, her compass is not true.

The vast right wing conspiracy, Hillary's term for them, would probably eat her alive. Or maybe their vehemence against her would provoke others to vote for her.

Hard to tell. But she'd be the most polarizing candidate since, well, I can't think of anyone in the last century who was quite that controversial.

But being controversial doesn't mean she'd lose. Elections are ultimately about dividing the nation. But she'd have to have incredibly expert handling to pull it off. It's hard to imagine the kind of money and handlers she'd have to have.

I'm beginning to think Hillary won't run, that it's all a rightwing nightware/fantasy. They're so afraid of a Clinton Redivivus scenario but so hungry to finally defeat the Clintons in some way.

I think she'd have to send Bill out of the country for the duration of the campaign or he'd screw it up for her. I have no doubt that she would be a relentlessly disciplined and focused candidate. However, she was not a governor and being a senator, either sitting or retired, is a liability. And she doesn't exactly have the Eleanor Roosevelt thing working for her either.

It would be very tough. But she could be elected but it's such a long shot given how much Red America hates her. And you have to have a couple of Red states to win. Strategically, she should have run for governor of Ohio instead of senator from New York if she wanted to be president.

I'm not certain she really does want it. At least, not badly enough. She may be waiting to see if the GOP really screws things up and gives her a real shot at it.
