How many days do you think it would take when shutting down
Congress to get what we want? I was thinking of creating a long term shut down of Congress to get a single payer system. You know...kind of like what they did to get the Pure Food And Drug Act of 1906 passed. The public just nagged Congress until they did it. Only this time we could shut down their email, their phones, their offices...But how long would you say it would take?

1. What? No one wants to make the life of Congress more difficult?

2. I'm not familiar with what 'they' did regarding the Pure Food & Drug Act
of 1906. Do you have a link that would educate people like me that don't know some of our history? Thanks.

3. hang on on the link....I am not a great googler...but they had
newspaper articles, letters, books (the Jungle by Upton Sinclair was written about this) basically non-stop pressure.

try this...very limited but a good start: http://www.u-s-history.com/pages/h917.html

5. Interesting links.....thank you
Interesting what can be achieved when there is driving force (passion) behind it.

I don't know what to think though - even this 'advancement' of the Pure Food & Drug Act has 'in a way' laid the groundwork for some of the very issues (good and bad) that we are facing today! Interesting indeed....

6. Yeah...but I want to put the fear of the people back into the
Republicans. They have fear of God but having the fear of someone who makes your life a living hell and you can actually see without aid might make for better government.

7. JFI (Just for Info), 'Fear of God'......has been twisted in translation
'Fear of God' meant/means (to believers)....something like respect, honor, recognition of the superiority of the Creator over what He has created (that would be 'us' - ALL of us).

Making someone's life "a living hell", isn't going to win a heart or a mind (i.e., Vietnam, Iraq for BAD examples)....I dunno know anymore....think I should change my name to verylittlecog (in a huge huge wheel).

I'm off to bed. G'nite

8. Interesting...But I really do not see how we can get anything
positive out of this congress unless we show them what they have forgotten. The people are Boss.

9. Let's do it.
Except I think it will take longer to get the Dems in Congress to do this than it would actually take.

10. Screw the Dems in Congress. I would want to do this even
if I was elected. In fact I would be flying all over the country arranging massive shut downs every chance I got until our voices drowned out the money that the Republicans get. Then I would get kicked out of Congress but as long as it got SOMETHING fixed...it would be worth it. Power to the People.
