*SNOW ALERT* Richmond Va-for anyone going to DC
Edited on Wed Jan-19-05 01:54 PM by underpants
I have no idea what I95 looks like but the city of Richmond is a ZOO!! right now. Everything is crawling. We were supposed to less than an inch right about now (2PM) but we got socked with several inches starting at about 10 AM. I have HEARD that it is supposed to be letting up but this is the same people who gave us the forecast above.

I just wanted to alert anyone who has not left yet and is heading through here on the way to DC for the inauguration.

1. It's bad in DC right at the moment
Edited on Wed Jan-19-05 02:01 PM by Sparkly
I was headed in to work, and had to turn around (then the school closed anyway). Public schools are closing early, city's shutting down for evening events; accidents everywhere, roads closed, traffic crawling...

It'll be better later on, but right now it's a mess!!

Edited to add photo:

6. Hee!
How much snow does it take to mess around with D.C., anyway? What constitutes a lot of snow?

17. 1 flake or more, or just the threat
DC drivers cannot handle any snow, the idea of snow or milkweed pod spores that just remind them of snow.

18. It occurred to me that the best way to "Protest" & ruin this Coronation
...is if there are mass traffic jams and accidents all around DC effecting anyone to getting around....

Hmmmm....Sounds like "Pachamama" (Mother Earth in Quechua) has the same idea right now..... :eyes:

3. There is a cement truck that has cut off Cary St. at 5 th St.
ALL Cary St. is now heading down 5th towards the river. I just got back from getting a hair cut and a cop told me that. Oh Broad St. is CLOSED (at least he said it was about to be).

8. I see Wilson Blvd, in Arlington, VA from my office
this major road is snow covered. Cars are very slowly moving or being pushed up the hill. The volume of the snow has subsided just a bit however I haven't seen one salt truck, and I've been sitting here all afternoon.

Accidents all over 95, according to the local news radio stations.

Federal workers for some agencies in D.C. have already left for the day. I guess they are on the roads out there waiting for me.

11. Thanks for the DC update
The weather map above seems to show that the tail end is hitting DC (barely snowing here now) so it might be finished soon

10. I'm hoping that it snows, snows, snows & then tommorrow dumps ice rain
....ICE ICE ICE everywhere.....An icy reception for the evil empire....Let him try to "walk" down the street and slip and fall....That would be only appropriate....Maybe he can eat a pretzel at the same time too....
