We Need to Pressure Hilary about Dean
Here's what an unnamed DNC official told a poster at DKos/MyDD:

"I asked a DNC member I know personally, what he thought about Dean's chances. He said there is really one main impediment and gave a very simple, direct suggestion for activists. He said, 'you need to apply tremendous pressure to Hillary.' I asked, 'Are you saying she's in the way?' He replied: "Yes!" --- EmilyD, from DailyKos account of conversation at DNC Western Regional Caucus, 1/22/05

1. I don't see the incentive for Hillary to back Dean for Chair.
He would constitute a serious impediment to her own career ambitions, wouldn't he?

2. If the call for her to do so gets loud enough
and she is made to understand than NOT doing so is an impediment to her future ambitions then she may be forced to stop whatever obstruction she is waging.

4. Ok, it could happen that way. But the Clinton faction --
-- almost surely has its own favorites for line-of-succession. My hunch is that Howard Dean is not on that list.

9. I couldn't care less about their aggenda
I supported both of them in their political careers. But at this point he only way they hold on to undue power is if we allow it.

12. Well, I'd kind of enjoy Dean having some power and --
-- influence in the party.

I like the guy. He can be my doctor any day, or my DNC Chair, or my president.

3. Why should she assume that to be the case?
I don't understand why this should be the case.

5. On the face of it, she shouldn't. But in politics, she will.
Senator Clinton is not from the same neck of the woods as Dean. They're not enemies but they're not allies, exactly. Their visions of America are not quite the same.

Dean's wish to reform the party does not work to the advantage of Senator Clinton's ambition to lead it.

6. Perhaps she should consider that she could assume
leadership of a reformed party better positioned to command a mandate among the public.

With a mindset like that, I, for one, will not back her as leader of the party. If she isn't willing to engage in the hard work of introspection and reform, then she's not worth the consideration.

7. Skidmore, I don't think Hillary Clinton is a team player.
That's the root of my concern regarding Dean as Chair.

I favor Dean, I'm excited about someone like him leading the party, and Christ knows the party could use him.

I'm not a huge Hillary Clinton fan, although when Rush and the other thugs start to gang up on her, I take her side invariably.

In an open Democratic field, she's not very high on my list of hoped-for nominees in 2008.

10. Sounds as though we are of like minds.
If Hillary could figure out that the gaming is what many Dems are objecting to, she would be miles ahead in being able to craft a message.

15. Yes. And that would make her a potent force.
I should not dismiss the idea that she can do this, especially this early in the game.

But I'm drawn to other candidacies so far.

One DUer over the weekend suggested that Lloyd Doggett of Texas be considered on the national ticket next time. I thought that was an interesting suggestion.

8. Well, yes and no.
Apparently Dean has said that he will not run for President in 2008 if he is DNC Chair. In theory, this would help Hillary's chances.

The only reason it wouldn't is if she plans on being a corporatist sellout DLC whore, in which case, she shouldn't be the candidate anyway.

So in other words, there is no reason at all why any WORTHY presidential candidate should feel threatened by Dean as DNC chairman :)

11. Agreed. My bias for other Democrats to represent us on --
-- the ticket may be blocking my understanding of Senator Clinton. She may be more flexible than I expect.

But I wouldn't sit the two of them next to each other at a dinner party. I don't think it's a case of bad blood between them, but more a matter of one blood type not compatible with the other.

17. there seems to be some problem with the farm club
say nothing, do nothing --> be nothing
.
Who does Hillary endorse for the DNC chair?
Perhaps, from time to time, people should speak up.

13. Hillary can kiss my ass
I'm tired of her thinking she controls the party. Maybe if she stood up to Bush like Dean I would have more respect.

14. I doubt Dean would put a damper on her chances
I don't see any evidence she is opposing Dean for chairman

16. Intuitive guess is the green monster ails her
The Clintons resent Dean's grassroots appeal to the base. They have been in Washington too long and seek political influence at any price. Their triangulation strategy is costing the party identity. Naked ambition is fairly transparent.
