Tell the senators what you think of the agenda and where the emphasis should be. I put in my message to push for S.17 (voting reform) the hardest!

1. Support from a moderate Republican welcome?
I read the agenda items/further detail hyperlinks within and I agree with everything. Do you think a Republican signature is appropriate or is this strictly for registered Dems?

3. I know people will disagree
but I think your support is welcome. The idea is to do the right thing regardless of political affiliation.

5. Republican on the list...
I completed the sponsor form and added the following comments:

As a moderate Republican I wish to voice my strong support for the Democratic agenda. The current Republican themes of fiscal irresponsibility and socially oppressive policy making are contrary to my beliefs, not only as a Republican, but as a citizen of this country. Please know that many moderate Republicans are looking to the Democrats for leadership during these difficult times and want to offer our help and support for the future.

Thank you.

6. welcome, ModRepub--the country needs your help now!
besides, it's up to the Dems to work in a bipartisan manner, if possible. The GOP won't give it anything but lip service. So glad for YOUR support!

7. Like what I see so far
I know there are those that want the Dems in Congress to 'grab their torch and pitch forks' on a daily basis, but I have to say I'm impressed so far that there are at least some in Congress standing up to the Republican bullies. Senator Boxer had every right to question Rice during the confirmation hearing subcommittee...those questions not only need to be asked but ANSWERED. Don't roll over now, especially on issues like Social Security and tort reform. How is it okay to incur a 2 trillion dollar deficit to secure SS for the future...that is totally illogical to tell our children that we are "saving SS" for them by putting their generation into insurmountable debt. Why would I want to relinquish my rights to compensation due to some corporation's negligence? Rising health care costs can only attribute 1% to medical malpractice...this will hardly help to lower health care costs.

Go Dems!!!

4. Done
And I agree S17 is MOST important right now. I am also very interested in some of the others, but not ready to sign on to those until I see THIS one addressed!

9. I told them what I think, and now I'll tell y'all…
"I cannot stand by and watch Bush & Co dismantle the America I know; the one I was raised to believe in and that stood for the best for all, not just for some.

I fear my government now, with good reason, and that's sad.

I don't want to see Roe v. Wade overturned, I don't want the Constitution amended to deny equality to gays, I want an end to pre-emptive war as a foreign policy, and I want to keep Social Security intact.

Please beat on this drum for a while: Social Security: A Family Value.
Dignity for seniors and for their families. "Privatization" is neither right nor necessary. "Personal Savings Accounts" are a sham. Don't Cave In, Please. Oppose this President's agenda to destroy 50 years of progressive policies and further divide our people. Please."
