What was broken that needed fixed?
Since 1945 let's say, what has needed fixed that was so broken and how has our govenment handled it or messed it up?

I ask this based on the ideas of social security, welfare, and other big impact programs. My point being that we have been able to help the poor through government programs and still people have ran businesses and made a lot of money. It could/should be a win-win for everyone.

When will government find a solution and stick with it instead of F*ing with it all the time, tweaking it, robbing from it, et al? IS IT REALLY THAT HARD??

Fund the things we need to, from military to the poor to health care, simplify the tax code so companies can't weasel out of it, and so on - THEN get the hell out of the way, don't touch it, and send the congress home to only meet a few times a year to examine what might need fixed.

Ok, so maybe not the best of ideas, so I am open to hear what yours are :)

1. We need to fix the support Social Security gives the elderly
so they can fend for themselves. Old crippled people need to take responsibility for the circumstances that led to them getting old. If they suffer they deserve it.

2. If Bush and Republicans are so concerned-
why not rollback some of those taxcuts for the wealthiest Americans and increase the ceiling on SS payments against income? That wouldn't cost us $1-2TT we don't have, ether. That could fix it real good.

What a con. They are worried about the future financial health of our kids and grandkids? What about the cost burden they'll incur paying the interest on the deficits these guys are ballooning?

Republicans are destroying this country, pure and simple. They are traitors.

3. I am just wondering
Since I was a teen I have heard about X/Y/Z needing fixed, changed, expanded, shrunk and so on.

It's the same old song and dance - each group/president/congress says 'here is the fix' and then a few years later we are back at square 1 or maybe 2 or 3.

How hard would it be to have a long term goal on some key issues, people work together to make it happen, and then get the hell out of the kitchen until it is really broke or in need of some repair?

So * can say he and rethugs are gonna fix this that and the other - but I have heard and seen it all before. Maybe the problems are less the plans and more the people who F with em all the damn time.

An overly simplistic view perhaps - but it doesn't hurt to dream that we find real solutions to our real problems as a people and then leave well enough alone.
