3. He sounded like the same old asshole to me.
He's obviously been coached to overenunciate. But that was the ONLY difference I could detect. Hell, sometimes I think they just recycle whole chunks of his SOTU's from previous years.

21. State of Mindlessness Address to the Nation
Aiye,..I'll have ta'agree with ya'matey; in fact, the Bush was on a'fire today, fer'sure,.. and'asides from SS piratization, the neocon repeated these blasted words through the hull of me'ship,...on Iraq, education, technology, and o'course,...Freedom,...enuf ta'makes a seaworthy pirate :puke: fer all O'Bush's suckexcesses,...

-----------------
The POTUS speaks (worse than a pirate)

"Who could have possibly envisioned an erection -- an election in Iraq at this point in history?"

"I want to appreciate those of you who wear our nation's uniform for your sacrifice."

"And if you're interested in the quality of education and you're paying attention to what you hear at Laclede, why don't you volunteer? Why don't you mentor a child how to read?" "Then you wake up at the high school level and find out that the illiteracy level of our children are appalling."

"So community colleges are accessible, they're available, they're affordable, and their curriculums don't get stuck. In other words, if there's a need for a certain kind of worker, I presume your curriculums evolved over time." "Then you wake up at the high school level and find out that the illiteracy level of our children are appalling."

"We need to apply 21st-century information technology to the health care field. We need to have our medical records put on the I.T." "I want to thank my friend, Senator Bill Frist, for joining us today. You're doing a heck of a job. You cut your teeth here, right? That's where you started practicing? That's good. He married a Texas girl, I want you to know. Karyn is with us. A West Texas girl, just like me."

"You're free. And freedom is beautiful. And, you know, it'll take time to restore chaos and order,..eh, —order out of chaos. But we will." "My views are one that speaks to freedom." ..."More Muslims have died at the hands of killers than -- I say more Muslims -- a lot of Muslims have died -???- I don't know the exact count - :/ - at Istanbul. Look at these different places around the world where there's been tremendous death and destruction because killers kill." :nuke:

"Free societies are hopeful societies. And free societies will be allies against these hateful few who have no conscience, who kill at the whim of a hat."

Whole chunk comments derived from actual loose grey matter by
Captain George W. Bush aboard the S.S. Piratization.

(Explains why we be set on the wrong course,...arrh)

54. Which country are you from?

There may, somewhere, at some time, have been a democratically elected president who didn't lie on a regular basis, but I rather doubt it.

Bush may lie more than many of his predecessors, but the essential problem lies in what he actually does, not in what he says about it.

that we are beginning to identify with
our abusers...like battered women.
We only see what we can safely process
because to things as they really are
is far too difficult.
I envy Peak's ability to remain optimistic,
but I also strongly suspect it is a form of
coping. Like in the draft thread, Peak did
not see the word draft, so it isn't happening.
Bush did not come right out and say,
"I plan to destroy this country and your futures"
so it must not be that bad.
I hope Peak doesn't think I am trying to
rain on the parade, it's just that I am
seeing these events through a very different
pair of glasses.
I'd like to borrow Peak's for a day.

Peak lives on a planet where everyone is happy
and there is no real threat from the Bush Korporate Kabal
and the PNAC.
It is imperative that they keep the location
top secret- otherwise people like you and

I know I would if I could.
I appreciate Peak's optimism, but I'll admit,
I am some what envious of it.

but as soon as I got home from shopping, I signed on to DU and was a bit surprised with some of the posts I saw around the place tonight. I'm still trying to figure it all out...but your post and a couple of others explained some of it to me.

Anyway...on the local 11 o 'clock news they showed a few minutes of the speech and I will say that I'm SO happy that the Dem's said NO or was that BOOING ?! HA! I LOVE IT! And I loved it too that the Dem's didn't applaud *!!! :bounce: That made my day, and even though I know there is a long and hard battle to be fought against the evil * installation...my fingers and toes are crossed that some how, some way, Social Security will be saved!

Funny how the littlest bit of good news these days keeps me from total despair over this hellish nightmare!

Bush actually believes he is doing good.
He is gripped by what Paul Levy terms
"Malignant Egophrenia."
Many of the people in this country are
also in this loopp of psychosis-
I can not recommend Levy enough as far as looking
at the big picture of what is happening.

44. Sad but true
Yes, he can now handle a phrase of more than six syllables without a downward inflection, and he can even rise to dealing with rhetorical arcs in his delivery. It was very obvious when watching him tonight; I've never seen him this good. Never.

There were the smirks and there's still that smugness, but it was all quite muted.

Quite like a calm Hitler, don't you think? The reactionaries were virtually orgasmic, too. Scary.
