Smackdown on Gannon
Maureen Dowd of the NY Times:

I was rejected for a White House press pass at the start of the Bush administration, but someone with an alias, a tax evasion problem and Internet pictures where he posed like the "Barberini Faun" is credentialed to cover a White House that won a second term by mining homophobia and preaching family values?

Kos:

Wasn't McClellan's argument that anyone can get day press passes if they ask for them? That the standard for access was so low, that even Gannon/Guckert could get in? Yet Maureen Dowd, a columnist for the New York Times, was denied? Wait -- there's more:

More Maureen Dowd:

At first when I tried to complain about not getting my pass renewed, even though I'd been covering presidents and first ladies since 1986, no one called me back. Finally, when Mr. McClellan replaced Ari Fleischer, he said he'd renew the pass - after a new Secret Service background check that would last several months.

Smack!

1. And yet ... oh lord, I'm speechless
Mo Dowd can't get in and yet Mr. Beefcake gets a daily press renewal.

8. Wow!! Catherine Crier doing real journalism!
That was amazing to watch....she nailed it right on the head!

She called Kurtz's article "beyond belief".....

Great job by Catherine. Sadly or perhaps maybe fortunately, depending on point of view, more people likely witnessed Crier's piece on Gannongate than Wolfie's piece on CNN......

Catherine has the issue right....she has the facts straight....

Damn good piece of work

7. Can't locate a transcript for this. The gist of what she was saying
is this is a Major Security breach at the WH and needs to be investigated thoroughly to see how "Gannon" got clearance.

5. This has potential squeeze play possibilities.
Someone should notify the various 'conservative Christians' and send to them all of the nefarious "Gannon" info. I am sure they would start to put pressure on the WH from another angle.

10. Anybody visited "Focus on the Family" yet?
Dr. James Dobson is AWFULLY quiet about all this.

Wonder why he isn't showing any outrage, or "leadership" on this issue!

6. In case anyone is unfamiliar with the Barberini Faun, go here...
and scroll down to see it. Good laugh. I haven't figured out how to plug images into a post.
