Rumsfeld doubts Iraq intelligence
BBC

The US does not have reliable estimates of the size of the Iraqi insurgency, its defence secretary has said.

Donald Rumsfeld told Congress he had received different numbers from various agencies and did not trust any of them.

"Frankly, I don't have a lot of confidence in any of them on that number," Mr Rumsfeld told the House Armed Services Committee.

The US has about 150,000 troops in Iraq trying to enforce security since it led an invasion of the country in 2003.

2. Oh yeah? Well *I* don't have confidence in *you*
Because *you* are a DUMBASS.

If you would have listened to, oh, I dunno, STUPID LIBRUL BLOGGERS back before your rushed "liberation" :eyes: of Iraq, you would have HEARD about the possibility of a prolonged fight from people DEFENDING THEIR COUNTRY.

Dumbass.

3. We know what we know, that is to say,
these things are unknown.

Perhaps those numbers keep changing due to 'insurgents' being ready for deployment in other parts of the world, Rummy.

I've heard so much about the elections in Iraq and how the people "showed the insurgents" they don't stand with them. But does it make sense that for one day the violence was minimal? Where were the 'insurgents' (voting maybe?) And if it was doable on this one day, why isn't it doable to continue what appeared to be an effective operation?
