5. I thought the blue dog referred to

strict adhesion to balanced budgets at all costs... at least that's how my former congressman described it when he claimed a blue dog tag. I never heard the "choked blue" explanation.

I'm kind of a Swedish social democrat, I think. I vote with the Dems in America because they do things like vote down anti-abortion and anti-flag-burning amendments, try to raise the minimum wage, protect the environment, that sort of thing. But they're not doing a good enough job, and they're not aggressively pursuing indictments for all the known criminals in office today. If a nationally known third party *cough*green*cough* managed to put together a coalition of labor, minorities, feminists, and anti-corporatists, *and* managed to help put the Greedy Oil Perpetrators in jail where they belong, I'd switch in nanoseconds.
