Sen Paul Sarbanes (MD - D) - * tax breaks to wealthy reason for problems
Edited on Mon Mar-14-05 04:16 PM by GetTheRightVote
not SS or other pre-determined programs which * and repubs are trying to cut in this year's budget.

I am happy to see the Dems beating up on * and the repubs.

On Cspan2: http://www.c-span.org/watch/cspan2_rm.asp?Cat=TV&Code=CS2

Votes to reject this budget.

1. I'm glad it's coming out now
Our infrastructure is getting worse

Our military has no armor

Our deficit increases

It might just be all happening because taxes are shrinking. Our nation's resources just don't appear out of thin air, they need taxes to create them.

2. brave Sen Sarbanes pointing out the obvious after he announces
his upcoming retirement.

Why so quiet the last 3 years? No, don't bother to answer. I think I know.

3. Yeah, it is a telltale sign of the...
... way the system works that a legislator can't speak the obvious until they are no longer campaigning for re-election....

5. I don't think he has been silent about it
It seems if you ask many Marylanders they will tell you he has been a great Senator in his long career. But way to talk about something while knowing nothing about it.

6. I'm from MD, and know he's been a good Senator...that doesn't mean that

he's not benefiting from the tax breaks, now does it...

Granted, Sarbanes-Oxley was a good piece of legislation - too bad they only wrote it after greed had ass-rammed the market.

But you're right; I don't know anything about it...

Paul Sarbanes is DEFINATELY benefiting from the cuts that benefit the richest 1% of us, make no mistake.

8. Kerry also benefited from the tax cuts
Edited on Tue Mar-15-05 06:37 AM by fujiyama
as did every one of the 100 senators (as it is the fact that every senator is wealthy enough to benefit from it), but that doesn't necessarily make it a bad thing, as long as they voted against it and tried to stop them.

Ultimately that's all that matters, that they vote against this crap. I don't care if they have money or not. The fact that some (very few) ultimately vote against their own financial interest is admirable.

Sarbanes, I believe, voted against the tax cuts so I really don't see a problem.
