Senate knockdown of Medicaid might saving Alaska refuge
On NPR this afternoon, they were discussing how since the Senate knocked down the Medicaid cuts, and the House recommended even greater cuts to Medicaid, 20 billion dollars of them, this might cause Congress to be unable to pass a budget this year. If the House will not budge on the cuts, and the Senate will not budge on allowing the cuts, there will be no budget.

No budget - viola!!! No Alaska drilling, no cuts for veterans, none of that crapola that Bush proposed.

Do miracles happen????

2. Train wreck followed by meltdown
Everyone knows the Pukes in Congress are allergic to BOTH taxes and spending cuts. They have a proven track record of that in this century.

However, I can see at some point * seizing all power a la Hitler to deal with the economic emergency forced upon us by the collapse of the dollar.

At that point, he will do away with Social Security and anything else he can get away with. As Paul Begala once said of executive powers, "Stroke of the pen. Law of the land. Kinda cool."

3. Unless we keep the pressure on,though, they could compromise.
ANWAR saved for Medicaid cuts...:-( Medicaid cuts approved for ANWAR drilling. :-( And, that's probably only half of the evil stuff Bush has in that budget that could be "traded" or "compromised" to get through.

But, agree it looks hopeful for Anwar, but not if it's a trade with Medicaid where 4 or 5 Repugs crossed over to save it. We didn't have any crossovers and 3 Dem defections with ANWAR.
