True insanity---Repugs in the US Congress trying to keep Schiavo alive

So the powers that be in the U.S. government are coming together in a heroic attempt to keep one BRAIN DEAD WOMAN alive.

The GOP's mantra: "We have to respect life."

Is that right? What about the people who will die because they don't have adequate health care? If Terry Schiavo's life is so important, what about the woman who has breast cancer who could live if only she was on a health insurance plan? What about the 100,000 civilians we killed in Iraq? What about our soldiers who continue to die? DO THEY CARE ABOUT THOSE PEOPLE? Why do they only care about Terry Schiavo's life?

The reason is this: Terry Schiavo is just a pawn in the fight to outlaw abortion. The strategy is to establish that a grown woman without brain activity is a valuable human, therefore a microscopic zygote without any brain activity, or even a brain for that matter, is a full-fledged human with all the rights of a U.S. citizen.

That is what this whole brouhaha is about. Abortion.

Yes, it's about abortion. But it's really about control. Who owns (controls) your body.

In the middle ages, the noblemen controlled your body. You worked when he said to work, and you couldn't commit suicide because that was stealing from the noble.

Now, instead of the nobles it's the government. They decide when you get to live and when you get to die.
