3. however, now it's gone national
aren't you excited about that?

Blackout

Now that I've been up for awhile I can confirm what my initial sense was - that CNN has completely ignored the story about the "possible showdown" between local police and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. It's a bizarre thing really, as it follows the narrative to the logical end. Crazies demand Jeb Bush "do something" and Bush getes his people ready to do just that - though, apparently, saner heads prevail. The unwillingness of the media to confront this story, which is the logical conclusion of having Jeb Bush try to substitute his authority for that of a judge, a storyline that the media have been desperately pushing all week, is to me an unwillingness of them to confront their own role in encouraging this. The orders of Bush and the orders of a judge are only as good as peoples' willingness to obey them, or the ability and desire of law enforcement agents to enforce them.

Two authorities, two law enforcement agencies -- what do they think would happen?

2. Finally, someone involved acts like they have a clue!
...but they stopped short when local police told them they would enforce the judge's order...

"We told them that unless they had the judge with them when they came, they were not going to get in," said a source with the local police.

Bravo, local cops!

6. Fortunately, the state cops had a clue, too
Edited on Sat Mar-26-05 10:37 PM by rocknation
Even if they were willing to follow Jeb's orders and/or didn't object to mixing it up with the locals, the state cops must have had a clue that Jeb would turn them into fall guys if his plan backfired, and would grab all the credit if it didn't. So they tipped off the local cops, and most likely everyone else. But then again, having a clue is the police's business!

..... tries to break it and at long last somebody stands up to 'em.

Now, let us take the fight to *. Everybody @ DU should know and
spread the word about "Thor" Hearne the ringer that Rove sent
to "muddy the waters" of the Ohio 2004 vote. He is a Jeff Gannon
but even better .... direct ties to the White House.

A Nation of Laws or Nation run by *? That is America's choice.

Yea local cops.

7. Interesting that your article is dated today, Saturday,
and the event occurred Thursday. Why the delay? I read it yesterday at another paper, but this should have been widely reported on Thursday.

I am assuming that Jeb thought the local cops would step aside. Even he wouldn't want to start a shoot out at the OK Corral.

8. Way to go, Jeb--you outsmarted himself
Edited on Sun Mar-27-05 12:21 AM by rocknation
According to sources, DCF intended to take Schiavo...(to the hospital) where her feeding tube had been reinserted in 2003...But hospice officials were aware that the hospital wasn't likely to perform surgery to reinsert the tube without an order from Greer.

In other words, if Jeb had been successful in carrying out his plan legally, no one would have been legally able to reinsert the feeding tube. So it would have been all for nothing--and ironically, moving Terri so abruptly might have hastened her body's death. Of course, the Jeb camp might have figured that out, and he did it just so he could claim that he did his best to snatch Terri from the jaws of demonic liberalism.

9. Pitty
Republicans try to turn everything into politics. Which ever way you lean over Terry's situation, it's not right to use her for political gain.

Sometimes I wonder if Bushie understands that 49% of the country still hates him?
