18 Dead In Iraq (at Abu Ghraib) yesterday?
Are there any more sources for this info out there? Because while MSNBC just did a brief synopsis of what happened yesterday, no mention was made of ANY deaths.

Conspiracy of silence continues

Listening to KGO, San Franscisco, on the internet this morning (Finnish time), I was shocked to hear that "18 Americans had been killed" in the attack by resistance fighters on the Abu Ghraib prison,

Scouring through the news channels I found that the conspiracy of silence has been imposed on the media where the only talk is of a serious attack where 44 US Soldiers were wounded, some seriously, and that 12 prisoners were also wounded.

Did KGO get the news specifically about the US dead and then they were asked to shut out this news?

Karel, who was standing in for Bernie Ward, specifically referred to the 18 US soldiers dead. He asked the audience very pointedly whether the coverage by the US media about the Pope was more important than covering the largest single day loss of life of US forces in Iraq.// there's a bit more to read.

2. Help me understand something please. The very first news I heard about
the attack on the prison mentioned something about 18 dead Americans. Then right after that they started using the word 'casualties' and a much higher number. So ever since yesterday I've been trying to figure out what the hell happened. Did the truth get out then someone freaked and killed to story or what?

7. Ironic, isn't it?
Must be part of their culture of life - injured, dead, it's all the same.

8. Talk about control of our media! Why isn't the death of possibly 18
soldiers and many wounded...less important that the Pope's death. They certainly deserve some attention, discussion and mention. Makes me so angry :argh: The American people have a right to know just what happened and how many are dead. This bottom sucking president needs to make a statement and honor these soldiers. If he could do it for one young woman he can do it for 18 US soldiers.

Besides the 44 U.S. troops wounded, 12 detainees were hurt, one seriously. The U.S. military said at least one insurgentwas killed.

It was believed to be the largest and most determinedattack on Abu Ghraib, a prison where more than 3,000 suspectedinsurgents are held in U.S. detention and which was at thecenter of a prisoner abuse scandal last year.

9. Well, it really looks like no-one did die on the American side
because the only people who have claimed deaths of US soldiers are a San Fransisco radio station. MSNBC has the AP report that says at least one 'insurgent' died.
