falwell and robertson must really hate the Pope
He dies and gets front page attention world wide. The Vatican is expecting 2 million to view his body. The College of Cardinals, with their colorful vestments will lock themselves up to try to choose a successor to this man loved by billions. His funeral will be on worldwide TV.

When falwell and robertson die, a bunch of klansmen will gather at a Confederate Cemetary and pretend to mourn. Out of their group will come the next "leader" of the radical christian right movement whose job it will be to rouse the rabblers into hating anyone they are told to hate. Oh how it must piss jerry and pat off to know the truth.

1. Of course they hate the Pope
He came out against war and the death penalty. That is directly opposite of them. The Pope was a peace loving man and died naturally, without life support. He also advocated for those pesky poor people, wanting to empower them. What a bum.

4. In Falwell and Robertson's defense.
Those pesky poor people can't afford to give much, although sadly I'm sure many do.

For these two charlatans religion is just the means to the end. The end being their agenda, and of course money, money, and more money.

2. These guys can't be compared with the Pope
They aren't the leaders of the established Methodist or Baptist churchs, both of which oppposed the war.

5. The Pope worked for I G Farben before he joined the Church
He helped make the agents used to kill the jews. His conversion was quite a change from mass murder to priest/pope.

10. A post on a webpage doesn't make it true
I don't think there are facts to back these allegations up.

13. He worked in a quarry.

From 1940 to 1944 he worked in a quarry. He did end up being sent to work in the Solvay chemical plant towards the end of the war under threat of arrest. I can not find anything that says he was a chemist or a salesman for the chemical company as your article suggests in a tongue-in-cheek style. Given his lack of experience in either venture, it is more likely the Nazis forced him to work as a drone on the factory floor than that they took him out of the quarry and made him a chemist, a salesman or President of the company (give this story enough time and they'll be claiming that next).

7. One Souther Baptist church's response to the Pope's death.
I go to a SB church once in a while with my wife. It's a very conservatice, evangelical church. You know what they said about this occasion? Well, it's a huge occasion, right? Arguable the most prominent Christian leader in the world, the Pope is; and certainly they will say a few things about him, even though it's a Protestant church, right? Wrong. Not a single word. They couldn't even mention his name in passing. Not even when we were praying for various people. They can't even say, "Lord, we pray for the Pope." Not a single word. Nothing against ALL evangelicals, of course; many are great people. But sometimes the churches themselves just drive me up a wall.

8. To Falwell and Robertson
and other Evangelicals, we Catholics are not even Christians and we are going to Hell. So it doesn't surprise me that there was no mention of the Pope in that church.

9. Right. I've even heard many SB evangelicals call Catholics, "Pagans."
Not that that should be offensive anyway, but it's just factually wrong.

11. Even in their silence, they are saying something.
But if it's that vs. bashing, I'll take silence.

OTOH, yesterday, I not only led our church(es) in prayers for the Catholic Church, I preached about our common ground, our culture's suspicion and hatred of RC's, and our call to be agents of healing in our own communities.

I am certain that I am not the only pastor to do this.

12. Awesome! Hey Rev...
I'd like to go to your church. May I ask your denomination, by the way? :hi:

14. why, thank you!
I am a United Methodist pastor, serving in the WI conference.

Not all UMC's are alike. It's fair to say that the churches in the south tend to be more conservative than those in the North. Also, since there is no "official" liturgy, worship practices vary widely. I tend to be more liturgical, using a worship formula that is more closely aligned with ancient practices and current ecumenical thought.

I hope you can find an open, loving congregation near you.
