Neil Bush, Cardinal Ratzinger and secret group....WTF?
Newshounds is really on the job. Not sure if this has been posted anywhere else but just when you think things can't get any "weirder" you have to remind yourself that this IS the Bush family after all!

Back in 1999 in Switzerland then Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, Neil Bush and an eclectic group of people formed a "secret" cabal (my words). This "foundation" was reportedly organized "to promote ecumenical understanding and publish original religious texts." Neil Bush, the family "black sheep," is the only unknown listed on the board of directors and there is no explanation why he was included. Later the foundation was "listed by Dun & Bradstreet business credit reports as a management trust for purposes other than education, religion, charity or research." (snip)

"Is there any significance to the fact that this organization appeared in 1999, just prior to Election 2000? What kind of work were they doing? Why was Neil Bush - a notable playboy - involved with this shadowy organization? What role did Cardinal Ratzinger, trusted advisor to the ailing Pope John Paul II, play in this group? Should we be using words like "cartel" or "conspiracy" here? Why are they listed on Dun & Bradstreet as other than what their name would suggest?"
This story was found in Newsweek - wonder why it hasn't received more air play?

2. Nothin nothing NOTHING surprises me anymore.
They could be conspiring. They could be investing money overseas. They could be standing in a circle jerk. Who knows. And ten bucks we'll never really know. WE'll never know most of what these nutcases and the rest of the * company has done until finally, years from now, a rethuglian pig squeals on their deathbed. Then, finally, we'll know at least a few more of the evil things * and friends has done to us.

"He was interested at that particular time," said Vachicouras of Bush. But like some other initial board members, Bush is no longer involved, Vachicouras said. Ratzinger also left a few years ago and was replaced by Archbishop Michael Fitzgerald, who is responsible for ecumenical relations for the Vatican, said Vachicouras.

They state that Neil Bush is out but his business partner, Jamal Daniel, is still in.

8. Actually there were two improbable directors--
Neil and his current business associate Jamal Daniel, whose Syrian Christian family had ties to Ba'athists in Syria and Iraq (including Tariq Aziz). http://www.mtholyoke.edu/acad/intrel/bush/deals2.htm
Daniel attended Pepperdine University and The University of Texas at Arlington (the home of ex governor Bush's Texas Ranger baseball team). Daniel apparently still serves as a director.

11. The list of folks on the board didn't sound bad until they got to Neil
Hrm.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I thought it was amusing when I heard what Ratzinger's frame of mind was as he was in the process of being elected pope.

"Oh God, don't do this to me."

I found that oddly endearing.

I'm willing to give the old coot the benefit of the doubt until he does something.
