1. & at your own blog, you can pick the screenname of "JC"
Thanks for the link, Paul. That is a site worth visiting. I like the way JC is highlighting the Iraq War issue.

2. Can we clone him, please?
John Conyers just amazes me. He takes up the important fights no one else will simply because it's the right thing to do, and is downright tireless. Calling him a politician is an insult. Would that we could populate the government with Conyers clones.

And then I read this:

"I very much want to be the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee in 2007 so that we can bring back checks and balances to our government, and restore accountability. There may be a wave developing that will make that happen."

Be still my heart! :loveya: :headbang:

5. I don't get the feeling his ambitions run that way, sadly
Reading about him on his website, it strikes me he loves being a Congressman. He's uncommonly devoted to his district in Michigan and vice versa; he's been on the Hill for 39 years and won re-election in '02 with 93% of the vote. And as a congressman he can apply himself to specific issues and really make a difference for the better. With his record I don't think anyone can argue he hasn't done just that. Being President removes you from the nuts and bolts of the operation, so probably wouldn't be nearly as gratifying for him.

Then again, I don't know Mr. Conyers personally. You could write to him and ask. I'm sure it wouldn't be the first time he heard it. He'd definitely get my vote. :)
