We are moving and I just realized that the great and honorable Bobby Scott will no longer be my Congressman. Bobby really helped me out with a GI Bill problem 10 years ago and I met him several times at Kerry campaign events-really nice guy. There is a like to a weekly Richmond paper article about Cantor.

As of 2004 Scott has voted with the Bush Administration about 12% of the time. Cantor-100% not one vote against what W and Delay tell him to do.

Eric Cantor-the "up and coming" "fast riser" RUBBERSTAMP FOR W of the Republican party.

Look at this suit!

There is a notion among some political observers that Cantor’s “meteoric rise” was calculated from an early age, and not entirely by Cantor. Parents Eddie and Mary Lee were party activists as far back as the ’70s, even attending the national convention in 1980. By Cantor’s account, he was part of the party before he was old enough to vote: “Growing up, I was exposed to grass-roots campaigning. Politics was always dinner talk.” No one at the table doubted where middle brother, Eric, was headed. At 17, when his classmates at Collegiate were figuring out how to sneak beer into the sock hop, Cantor was putting up signs, working the polls, going door to door — spreading The Word for The Party.

Even while establishing himself as one of the party faithful, Cantor says, he had never entertained any thoughts of running for office. He just loved wallowing in politics. He’d had many opportunities to do so at Bliley’s elbow, first as the congressman’s driver, then as a college intern in Bliley’s office and, later, as his campaign chairman.

JD Hayworth.

Talk about rubberstamps.

May God be with you, UP. I feel your pain.

Last year I moved from this:

Moran Leads Open Rally to Preserve Social Security; Counter to Closed Bush Event

Falls Church, Virginia, April 29th -- Nearly 100 concerned citizens attended an event held by Congressman Moran and Virginia United to Protect Social Security. The Congressman was joined by Bill Halter, former acting Commissioner of the Social Security Administration, and Reed Wiedower, a local high-tech employee. The open town hall rally to preserve Social Security was held as a counter to President Bush's closed door rally which occurred earlier in the morning less than a mile away.

Chairman Davis Introduces Two Bills to Streamline and Improve Government Acquisition

May 04, 2005

Legislation Would Re-organize GSA,
Make Government-Wide Procurement Reforms

* * Government Reform to Mark-up GSA Bill And Three Others Tomorrow * *

Washington, D.C. -- House Government Reform Committee Chairman Tom Davis (R-VA) today introduced two pieces of legislation to streamline and improve federal acquisition operations.

The two bills are H.R. 2066, the "General Services Administration Modernization Act," and H.R. 2067, the "Acquisition System Improvement Act," or ASIA. Both are co-sponsored by Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA), chairman of the House Armed Services Committee.

"These two pieces of legislation continue our efforts to modernize the federal acquisition system and to provide the government with greater access to the commercial marketplace," Davis said. "The Federal marketplace should reflect the best of the commercial marketplace, both in the products and services we buy and the way we buy them."

The re-introduction of ASIA (H.R. 2067) continues congressional efforts to modernize the federal government s acquisition system and provide the federal government greater access to the commercial marketplace. Its major provisions include:

7. Scott is a lazy bastard, but still better than this asshole.
Actually, I shouldn't say that. Scott himself is pretty good. His staff is a group of fucking jerks though.

9. I had completely the opposite experience
With the GI Bill problem I erroneously called Tom Bliley's office and was very shortly asked "WHERE DO YOU LIVE?" I told the woman and she said "Congressman Bliley is not your Representative" and hungup. I called back and asked if she could tell me who was-she sighed and after a couple of seconds she said "Bobby Scott" and hungup again. I call information and got Scott's office and called and the woman I spoke to was nice and polite from the get go.

I got the check 3 days later.

Maybe it's just the jerk I've been dealing with.

11. You'll live. I have.
It makes life a bit easier, because when you get people telling you to call your senator about things, you know not to bother. Cantor is notoriously impossible to get in touch with, and it's not like he'd support anything I agree with anyway. It seems to me that he's training to be Santorum 2, if George Allen doesn't quickly take his place.

12. Here is my take on the "golden boy" syndorme
It was Allen. He was the next big thing and I have even heard that he is in the top 5 for Repubs to run for President, seriously. His "Sell your house to afford retirement" comment on Sunday surely will come back to haunt him.

Then Santorum came along and leap frogged Allen. Now pRick is fighting for his life in Pa and flip flopping all over the place on issues.

Cantor is being groomed/propped up to take JOHN Warner's spot or Allen's or something like that. Cantor probably won't run for Governor (at least not yet) he is the perfect Repub (did I mention that he is Jewish too?) blow up doll for the right.

13. I feel your pain
I got stuck with Thelma Drake :puke:, who in a recent editorial in the Virginia Pilot, students gave the state legislative body a GPA score, she received a 1.4, and for this grade she got promoted to Congress.

4.14.2005
Drake Supports Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention & Consumer Protection Act

4.13.2005
Drake Supports Permanent Repeal of Death Tax

Virginia Beach decided not to support the troops in the last election by voting in Drake and leaving the soldier, a man who served in Iraq and would have given Congress a real inside view of the war, David Ashe.

http://www.davidasheforcongress.com/

Both Newspapers Endorse Ashe!
"In a district that boasts one of the highest concentrations of military retirees in the country, Ashe would be an able advocate for the interests of veterans and reservists. The 2nd District has a special opportunity to deploy to Washington a representative to challenge our leaders and ask tough questions about Iraq. We can't think of a better way to support our troops than to send one of their own to Congress."

14. Take it upon yourself to be his pen pal
Write nice, polite letters on issues, telling him that as one of his constituents you think he should vote in your best interests. Force him out and make him admit that he's a rubber-stamp tool for the worst excesses of the Repressive Right.

Then work with your local Democratic party to nominate a candidate to beat this Ken doll.

I try to be very polite but my last one included the FACTS about the $9Billion missing in Iraq, something that Allen apparently was unaware of.

16. Excellent
Even the biggest tool, confronted with the indisputable FACT of $9 billion gone missing, will eventually wonder if he shouldn't ask a question or two. Especially if he has a voter in his district nagging him (politely) for an answer.

17. This is so hard for me to get my mind around
Having been raised in a liberal Democratic Jewish household during the 50's and 60's, I still am unable to come to terms with the Jewish neo-cons that have recently sprung up like so many weeds.

18. Look on the bright side
Cantor's term is up in 1.5 years. That gives you lots of time to work for his opposition. Or perhaps even throwning your own hat into the ring.
