What if the Repugs succeed in getting rid of the filibuster...
and what if the Dems were to take back the Senate and Presidency?

I think there could be potential for fun :)

What I would do if president is appoint Jane Fonda to the Supreme Court and watch the repugs' heads explode as they can't do anything about it.

If you were president in this situation, who would you nominate and eventually put on the supreme court?

2. While that makes for great fantasy...
I would think that they would get a lot more mileage by restoring the rules and traditions after a period of sweat inducement.

3. Or simply put the filibuster back in the event of
the Democrats retaking the Senate. There is the "lame duck" session following the election but before the new Senate is sworn in. 'Pukes would still be in the majority, so they could pass the rules back in, knowing they would benefit come January. Lousy weasels.

4. They will leave things so broken that we won't be able to
If we simply go back to the way things are and hamstring ourselves before we've undone as damage as possible then we're loosing ground.

In order to correct things we're going to need to go in there and raise taxes on the rich, slap massive fines on corporations who pollute, enact and for the first time in 8 years enforce the EPA regulations, and on and on. Lets not even talk about what's been done to our national parcks and wildlife. Hell. Fixing education and schools-oh man every child has been left behind.

Anyway, the republicans, especially if it's the same group in there when we regain power-cannot be reasoned with. They ONLY understand zero sum games. To that effect we have to completely remove them from the process. This is not an issue of sinking to their level, it's a matter of dealing with them as they've defined the new terms. With the inability to comprimise and focus on what is best for the country comes the necessity to eliminate their influence from politics all together.

Now, should this batch of republicans be tossed out on their ear and the party come back to the world of sanity. Then yes, I think restoring order and civlity back to the congress would be great. But the people who are in there are idealogical psychopaths and will never understand anything but zero sum.

Cheers
