Edited on Wed May-18-05 03:56 PM by Oreo
I'm not paying attention to his lies but wouldn't mind knowing who it is.

Again the 76% in favor vote in CA. Reid said she went unopposed but a later pub said she ran agains 4 other judges

10. Orrin "lying sack of shit" Hatch is speaking now.
:puke:

Speaking about Owen and "left wing interest groups committed to her defeat."

"Systematic strategy to deny up or down votes..."

11. I don't think she ran against 4 judges...
I think there were 4 other judges on the ballot also, not in competition with each other, each running for their own seats. I think what they're saying (or SHOULD be saying) is that she was unopposed but garnered more votes than any of the other judges who were also running unopposed.

19. I'm finding A LOT of references to the 76%
Edited on Wed May-18-05 04:20 PM by Oreo
It seems to be their main talking point on her.

Can anybody find proof that she ran unopposed?
The 76% line is starting to come up more than "up or down confirm or deny, yadda yadda yadda"

I'd be curious to see the ballot. Was Brown first? I know a lot of people that just fill in anybody for judge. Stupid yes but I think it happens pretty widely

42. she may have a 76%
whether opposed or not - that still does NOT in any way, shape or form translate N2 an overwhelming majority to park her extreme ass on a federal bench anbd make decisions that affect ALL Americans.

51. I wonder, when she ran against other judges
if she was the incumbent.

I would imagine that if one is an incumbent, that getting such a large majority wouldn't be surprising. I'm sure the turnout wasn't spectacular, and unless she really sucked, she'd just coast along.

Witness my Rep, Sensennbrenner. He hardly has to campaign anymore. He just sails on in despite his faults.

12. Ewwwwww......Hatch
He is such a slimy one. I live in Texas, and I wish they'd quit saying "The people of Texas" love Judge Owen, as if that's good enough to get her in. I don't care if she is qualified, if she has been given a high rating by the bar association; idealogically, she is an extremist.

Now he's leaving and James Inhofe from Oklahoma is kissing Hatch's ass. Inhofe is calling the situation a "judicial emergency."

22. How many times are they going to give her bar exam score,
the list of her supporters, and her CV? Do they honestly think if they repeat that junk over and over again it will make a difference? Repeat it in 50 speeches makes it 50 times more important? Jeez, Louise if being poor, working your way through school, having a career for 30 years is all you need to be a nominee maybe I'll contact my Senators and is if they can get the Chimpy to put forth my name as a federal judge. I'm betting I understand the Constitution better than the nominees or the repug Congress ever will.

Also, who are they trying to convince that these nominees are non-partisan? They have said at least 10,000 times that this isn't "political." Yeah, right.

39. Done. Here is my note:
Nothing really matters to me, personally (I am happily married, am financially well off, have two wonderful jobs between us, have no children to worry about, etc).

However, I am completely aghast at what is happening in this country -- the Republican power grab is simply unbelievable in its audacity and ultimate stupidity.

Stop this insanity, Dr. Frist (I am ashamed to share this degree with you). Get back to the business that really matters: getting the deficit under control, so we do not become a banana Republic -- ironic that the "Republicans" are dragging us there, kicking and screaming.

41. Thanks, but,
there are many many people like that. My entire social milieu consists of very well-off people who are very concerned with what is happening to those that are not. The reason we all find the Fristians horrifying is precisely because of our own frame of mind. (The inclusive pronouns "we" "our" etc here are meant to include the entire DU family, really -- since I do not believe you have to be personally well-off for your intentions to be clearly benevolent.)

(Nor did I mean to brag :-) Whole truth and all that...)

44. Make your voice heard sign this...
Dear Friend,

Republicans want to go “nuclear” and turn the Senate into a rubber stamp for President Bush. They want to silence Senate Democrats - the one remaining check on President Bush’s power. If they can do away with debate in the Senate, they can get whatever they want – right-wing Supreme Court Justices, Social Security privatization and tax breaks for the wealthy that will plunge us deeper in debt.

But Senate Democrats are going to fight them every step of the way. And this fight will be different than any other fight in the history of the Senate – because it will include all of us. Senate Democrats need our help, and that is why they are using your names and comments as part of our debate on the floor of the United State Senate. Imagine all of us standing together in the Senate Chamber during this debate.

Stand with Senate Democrats today . I did and you should too:
