Justice Owen is a "lovely person" and...

...also very sweet. That seems to be part of the argument supporting her nomination. WTF? Did anyone else hear these phrases during the Senate Hearings today??

By all means, we need "lovely people" on the bench.

:puke:

5. Just wait until we get to Janice Rogers Brown
and we have to hear all about how that poor li'l colored chile, the daughter of sharecroppers, pulled herself up by her own bootstraps.
Sickening.

10. I couldn't agree with you more.
As an African American I am usually happy to see fellow blacks obtain high office but Brown is just too far outside the mainstream. Some of the views she holds are just plain outrageous. And I am so tired of hearing about her background. A lot of sharecroppers' children have managed to beat the odds and do well.

11. Exactly!
Most African Americans over the age of 50 likely have a compelling story of overcoming despite great odds. The only time Republicans seem to be impressed about it is when they find a black sycophant who carries their water but is otherwise unqualified to hold the position they're being given.

The same people who belittle and try to eliminate affirmative action as a tool for providing opportunities to highly qualified minorities are the first to pull this crap of trying to divert attention from the pathetic lack of qualifications of their favorite blacks by demanding they get a pass just because of their race.

It's insulting and obnoxious.

7. If this is a description of a "lovely person" I'd hate to see a bad one!
"A former lawyer for the oil and gas industry, she reflexively favors manufacturers over consumers, employers over workers and insurers over sick people. In abortion cases Justice Owen has been resourceful about finding reasons that, despite United States Supreme Court holdings and Texas case law, women should be denied the right to choose."

9. Graduated highest in her class!!
and lots of other glowing accomplishments. You know, I don't give a shit how well she's qualified - I don't care how wonderful her resume is.

She's still a nutcase.
