11. Landrieu comes from very red state of Louisiana. Trent Lott has received
many vile and abusive calls himself when it was learned he was supporting some sort of compromise on the nuclear option. Unfortunately, I expect Mary would have faced the same. Owens was a done deal, once cloture was invoked.

were there a lot of other repub's to cross over?
I only heard Chafee go no, and the other possible no votes (McCain, Snowe, Collins) all went aye...not only that, Byrd and Landrieu voted aye, too...
