My 2 Cents On Dean's Daily Show Appearance.
First, a little background. When I first discovered DU in '03, I came in as a Kerry supporter and remain so to this day. I was skeptical of Dean, primarily because I'd been aware of and admired John Kerry for 32 years and wasn't ready to embrace someone I hadn't known of for 32 days. I was however going to HAPPILY support the Democratic nominee. At ALL times, I was grateful to the good doctor for giving us back our fighting spirit.

For that reason, once it became obvious that JK was going to be the nominee, I advocated Dean as a great potential DNC chair in several threads where a job for him in a Kerry administration was being discussed. I felt that he could stand up to the rethuglicans and give them back as good as he got. I am proud, as is ChicaAzul, to say that HD speaks for me!

HD was a bit subdued tonight on the Daily Show, but at the same time he was appearing at the time kkkarl decided to make an ass out of himself in public, rather than letting his drunken hand puppet do it. Stewart also showed film of 3 moronic repuke reps. invoking 9/11 to support their attack on Freedom of Speech, at one point reminding us that the rethugs supported the police ad fire fighters by cutting benefits to them.

And then came Dean. My interpretation is that he spoke in a very civil and measured way and hit ALL OF THE POINTS HE HAD TO. He was aware of the opportunity he had to get a few of those people who have fallen for the B.S. of the halliburton administration to listen to US again, and he did it in such a way that the righties can't take a clip out of context and paint him as a loon again. Even if they try using his statement about the administration's "crap", all of the polling is showing that the public is waking up to the fact that crap is exactly what they are selling The man is smart and he knows how to connect. I was very satisfied. I think its a mistake to jump on him in this forum. We are the choir. HD needs to get more of the congregation in.

I say let him do it in his way. Even if we lose, the rethuglicans will at least know that they were in a fight!

Peace and good night all! I'll respond to any comments tomorrow!

1. Dean is doing what needs to be done. Frame the wider message.
Then it's up to Dem candidates to focus that message in a way that their constituents can relate to.

3. I think he did well.
The sad thing is, had he come out "gang-busters" we would have a segment here bitching that he was "too aggressive and off-putting." Instead, because he appeared a little nervous, and, bless his little heart, he is just not a "joke-a-minute" guy (like Jon, who gets paid for that), he is being branded as "too soft and didn't answer the real questions," as if he was on Crossfire instead of The Daily Show. He will never impress everyone here, but one thing is for damn sure....he scares the fuck out of the Rethugs! They hate him, which is all the more reason to love him!

In short, I know too late, DEAN SPEAKS FOR ME!

In a limited time frame in an interview format, Dean did extremely well. What critics on this board are whining about is something I just can't understand. Dean is doing his job and doing it brilliantly.

On edit: And, like tens of thousands of others tonight (I hope), Howard has inspired me to go here to make another contribution:

7. Dean's integrity and common sense are obvious.
And refreshing.

No wonder they have tried so hard to smear him. I doubt if it will work in the future.
