The destruction of the Fifth Amendment and the end of America
There can be no other interpretation of the Fifth Amendment. Here it the phrase:

“…nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.”.

They will use the land in Connecticut for private enterprise. Please don’t post how ‘it doesn’t say they cannot take it for private use’.

What this ruling means is two things: 1) Our Constitution is not the rule of the land, and 2) our government can TAKE anybody’s land . Yes, I know, justly compensated. Who decides the price? Oh, maybe the government does. With bribes I’m sure – just like with the Supremes knowingly trashing the Constitution (or with threats).

You’re house at the lake – you know, the house that has been in the family for 100 years? Well, Uncle Channey will now just take it from you. And you have no recourse. Oh, and where will the government get the money to ‘justly compensate’ you for your house? You know the $300 billion looted from our treasury? You know Hussein’s stash that is misplaced? How much choice property can that buy?

Yesterday’s ruling, my friends, is the tipping point. They have succeeded in nullifying the Constitution. Our government now can literally do anything to us or against us – all in the name of the law. Sound familiar?

Since they have been sworn to protect the Constitution, and since they have not, rest assured that our United States of America is officially dead.

1. What exactly was the SCOTUS ruling language on the case?

2. I also disagree with the ruling, BUT
1) who is "they"? This ruling wasn't in any way shape or form an orchestration of the current administration or "Uncle Cheney"

2) The ruling doesn't "nullify" the constitution. A ruling that they wouldn't have to "justly compensate" the owner of a house because all the money is in Iraq would nullify the constitution. But this isn't even a first step in that direction.

3. You got to be kidding...
You don't think this evil administration did not threaten or bribe the Supreme Court. The 5th amendment is crystal clear. You cannot take land for private use - only public use.

With two Bill of Rights liberties - illegal search and now this, do you think that it will stop there?

"They" are our government who are destroying America.

Everyday, they do one more thing to trash America.

you can not take land for private use?

Article V.

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

10. no, you got to be kidding...
So the administration bribed or threatened Stevens into ruling this way while letting Scalia and Thomas dissent, why? To cover their tracks?

Again, I disagree with the decision, but the your OP implied that the ruling was part of a government plot to let the administration take property without compensation. That's a far, far stretch.

Stevens is far from perfect and he made the wrong decision here, but he hasn't succumbed to bribes and threats before and he didn't in this case.
