Wow, it's so scary when you say to yourself, "wow, that pic doesn't even HAVE to be photoshopped."

3. I heard a local newscaster describing the scene thusly:
Edited on Tue Aug-02-05 05:01 AM by Bunny
"Bush was surrounded by a sea of olive green and khaki, as thousands of Boy Scouts listened to the Commander in Chief."

And I thought: when was Bush named CinC of the Boy Scouts???

4. Well, to be honest...
I'd rather he were CinC of the Boy Scouts than the Marine Corps. Fewer people get killed.

7. Honorary President is one thing. But CinC?
Since when are the Boy Scouts a military organization?

12. I was a Girl Scout.
We had uniforms, oaths, etc. But never once were we considered military, and I doubt the Boy Scouts were either.

5. It looks a lot like a Hitler youth rally to me.
I'm sure I saw a picture of Hitler standing in front of a crowd of youths that looks very much like that picture.

I would go as far as saying that Bush is a reincarnation of Hitler and I don't give a damn who is offended! He wants kids to sign up for the military to fight his wars of opportunity and he doesn't give shit about thier lives or future. He needs bodies to put on the line.

15. Dont want to be mistaken for defending Bush here
I think he actually 'gives a shit' about their lives and future, but he is so misguided that he "gives the wrong shit".

He thinks the sacrifices being made by (or being forced upon) people are worth it.

I'm not sure which is scarier, your version or mine.

8. It's pretty damn sickening that army
recruitment advertising was allowed anywhere near the scouts at that jamboree.

Boy Scouts has nothing to do with the US military.

11. Today's Boy Scouts, Tomorrow's soldiers?
(the subject line is the actual title of this article from my hometown rag)

Today's Boy Scouts, Tomorrow's soldiers?

BOWLING GREEN -- Jack Hamel and David Vito scaled a 45-foot-tall rope ladder, stepped across wobbly planks high in the air and then raced down a "zip line" cord to the ground at the Army ROTC's Adventure Tower.

Back on terra firma, the two Boy Scouts from Connecticut said they had a newfound respect for the military.

"It sort of gives you a taste of what they go through in training," said Hamel, 12, who is considering joining the Coast Guard.

The Army Adventure Area, with its helicopters, big guns and combat videos, is a popular draw at the 2005 National Scout Jamboree, which concludes tomorrow. Yesterday, boys clambered over an Abrams tank while others checked out an Apache attack helicopter.
