The Ugly Obvious: White Flight at it's worst
It is almost entirely black people that are stuck in New Orleans. Why?

3. Yep. It's what I call "plantation economics."
It's spreading everywhere in this country. It's the neocon wet dream.

7. It's not just like that in the South. I have friends that live in
Columbus and New York, and they said it depended on what part of the town you lived as to whether you were safer. You can live on one street and there are no problems. Then you go down a block and you see the ugliness of capitalism.

Limpballs today stated that these people were not into entrepreneur ism and dreams of a better life but believed in total entitlement. The government takes care of them and they totally expected the government to come and get them. None of them (he said) claimed they owned a car. Then he wondered out loud if the people down them to have cars. He wondered aloud if black people were allowed to buy cars down there?

In the cities, the Urban blacks have a liquor store on every corner. They didn't put them there; however, for some reason, they have more liquor stores then in white communities. Those on Welfare, white, green, blue, black, yellow, whatever, are not encouraged to do better. If they try to pull themselves up and try to make a better life for themselves, they will take two steps forward and then Social Services will kick them back. Either way, you are a loser unless you were born into a family that is already blessed, somewhat weathly, and will continue to keep it in the family.

2. center city= mostly penurious
those that were left behind were mostly those in poverty and a few rebels who defied the evacuation warnings.

4. Well, it's pretty obvious that the White Folks
fled very early on. They took their belongings and they got out. They've got staying power, so they'll probably migrate back eventually, once half the "Left Behind" population kills each other off.

Now, keep in mind that this flood was not selective regarding destruction. I'm sure that Katrina was an Equal Opportunity Disaster and most of them probably lost their homes.

But they probably have homeowners insurance, so they'll be covered. I'm not sure how many of the poorer folks have that.

It's also pretty obvious Bush has turned his back on the poor people of N. Orleans. He's hoping they'll starve to death so there will be so nice Vacancies in Town. Also, fewer mouths to feed.

Republicanism at Work. Just make sure you're not black.

6. Tulsa Race Riot of 1921....35+ black blocks destroyed, many lived in
tents during the following winter

said to be the worse race riot in US history.....and most of the US has never heard of it

there was a strong attempt on the part of some of the power structure to prevent blacks from rebuilding so there could be 'development'.... I think this is in Scott Ellsworth's book

the events were covered over, never talked about, never mentioned in schools (I attended Tulsa schools 1-12 and never heard about it there) ....... only began to be talked about in the white community in the last several years.....there was a state commission to consider reparations but none were given......(white) people told me the talk of reparations should stop b/c it was just stirring up bad feelings

BTW, race riot b/c whites systematically attacked blacks.....even claims that bombs were dropped on black areas......abt half the black population was interned at the Fairgrounds and other places....number of dead is disputed; some think 300+ were killed
