Tom Tancredo: Don't send aid to "incompetent and corrupt" Louisiana

U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., asked House Speaker Dennis Hastert not to send federal disaster aid to officials in Louisiana, calling state and local government there incompetent and corrupt.

In a letter to Hastert on Wednesday, Tancredo urged the speaker to create a "bipartisan select committee" of members of Congress to oversee federal disaster spending in Louisiana.

"Given the abysmal failure of state and local officials in Louisiana to plan adequately for or respond to the effects of Hurricane Katrina on the city of New Orleans, and given the long history of public corruption in Louisiana, I hope the House will refrain from directly appropriating any funds . . . to either the state of Louisiana or the city of New Orleans," Tancredo wrote.

Tancredo lashed out at New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin and Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco, both Democrats, as having "demonstrated mind-boggling incompetence in their lack of planning for and response to this disaster." He issued a milder rebuke to the Federal Emergency Management Agency, accusing it of "bureaucratic ineptitude."

2. I made a point in my political parties class the other day
That anyone who votes against this will pretty much kiss reelection goodbye. So far we've got Tancredo and Hastert actually openly saying they shouldn't fund New Orleans. And if these two are saying it, then you know there are plenty more Republicans who feel the same way. If the vote isn't unanimous, something's terribly wrong. My instructor said "Well, you'd have to be pretty secure to vote against it, and I don't think anyone's THAT secure in their reelection chances to vote against funding for evacuees."

4. Tom Tancredo: Putting the "nut" in Wingnut....
Note: if you are calling his offices (I have before), the staffers he has answering his phones are as whacked as he is.

5. Republican Liars
Are these people really going to be able to, once again, clear the Bush administration of this failure?

How immoral does a person have to be to ignore that the Federal Government HAD NO PLAN in the aftermath of this hurricane, not just in New Orleans, but all around the Gulf?

The Federal Government's Homeland Security/FEMA was an absolute and complete failure, and people died because of their failure to make and execute a plan in case of disaster. The self absorbed excuse making that came after the failure was recognized should have convinced any American that these people are incompetent and never should have been appointed to any post of responsibility.

Of course, if you are a Bush Republican first, an American last, you probably are scrambling to lie, lie, lie, shove the blame off on victims, do any dirty thing you have to do to twist the truth that is before our eyes, and get these nitwits off the hook for their actions...again.

I am sickened by what this administration is. A group of incompetents in everything but lying and shifting blame.
