Rove not being indicted?
George Clooney is on Charlie Rose right now saying that the "word" is Rove will not be indicted.

I am sick :puke:

Say it ain't true!

Like Clooney. On CR talking about his movie "Good Night and Good Luck"...doc on Edward R. Morrow.

6. No. That's the bad part. He just "casually" stated it. nt

2. I like Clooney
But this is not exactly a "Washington insider" talking.

The "word" in this case could come from cocktail party chatter.

31. People, CLOONEY WAS JOKING
This is the second thread on this. He was kidding. He does that. He kids. When he said it to Rose, Rose looked and asked "how do you know this?"

To which Clooney replied, "his lawyer said so."

Don't worry. Karl will be indicted.

7. No way. Clooney articulates very well and he was still talking
like a true liberal.

Hope he is wrong about KKKarl though.

it wouldn't be too surprising to me if he did.

20. Prosecutors only take a deal...
...for states evidence to nail someone higher up. And there's only two "higher-ups" and I'm not sure Cheney even counts. They'd deal with Scooter if Big Time was the prime target.

8. Drudge got orders from his boss ROVE to run up this trial balloon ...
That moran Drudge gets the scoop on "the blue dress" but has been hard pressed (no pun intended) to get anything else RIGHT. Damn! Clooney is too gullible if he thinks another Rove whispering sweet nothing in Matt Drudges ear will make a difference with Fitzgerald.

Yeah, you wish - Rove-Co! :puke:

13. That's what I was afraid of.
Everyone is so sure that Rove will be indicted.

When I come across something that is such a sure thing I always become suspicious. I've seen too many absolutely sure things never happen.

The Rove issue isn't fully resolved until Fitz makes his announcements but I have a sick feeling that everyone's been too sure about this.

So hold onto your hats.

27. I have always believed
people were too optimistic about the possibility of Rove being indicted. It might turn out that no one will be indicted.

19. Drudge's headline says Rove no target.
But his story is the same story everyone has quoting Rove's lawyer saying that he was not told he was a target. There's a difference in not being told you are a target and being told you are not a target.

23. I'll believe it when I hear it from Fitz himself. He's been so quiet so far
...I would NOT be surprised at a sudden turn-about. My guess is 4 trips to the "principal's" office merits an expulsion. Though no doubt he'll eventually be pardoned by Shru.

That IS if Shrub is still in office then. Remember his quote from that "staged" conversation with the soldiers the other day. Shrub said: "IF I'm still here (in W.H.) when you return, stop by..."

18. I went to check
and all Drudge has as a headline is ROVE NO TARGET. He basically took Rove's lawyers statement of ... "Fitzgerald has not told Rove that he is a target" and made it sound like something more then it was.

26. Could not be assured that Rove was not a target
The last I heard was that Rove could not be assured that he was NOT a target. In other words, Rove may still BE a target. Is this outdated information?

16. George Clooney?
How would Clooney have any special insight into it? I would bet your or my prediction of it is just as likely.

This is from the Washington Post via the Political Animal blog:

"Rove's defense team asserts that President Bush's deputy chief of staff has not committed a crime but nevertheless anticipates that special prosecutor Patrick J. Fitzgerald could find a way to bring charges in the next two weeks, the source said."

That's lawyer-speak for "Oh, &*%$". Rove own attorney thinks something's inevitable! That's about as close to an informed source as we're likely to get.

21. I have become desensitized to 5 years of door slams
We have a lot of people over here who have yet to go through a politicl maturing process, so they act like every little negative news story spells the certain end of the Bush White House: the Downing Street Memo, the August 6th PDB, Gannon/Guckert-gate, the Plame thing, no WMD's in Iraq, Bush fucks up at the debates, Katrina, Bernie Kerik, phony terror warnings, cheating in official votes on the House floor. I don't have time to name them all.

Then when it doesn't work out that way, us grownups over here have to endure post after post from the politically immature with subject lines of "WTF!" or some other explitive.

Buck up and grow up people. You didn't actually think that this White House would allow Babysitter Rove to get indicted did you? Oh, you did? That's so cute.

The only mystery out there as far as I am concerned is which 26 year old White House junior staffer will have to take the fall to protect the little baby, the little child George W. Bush.

28. ...and the funny thing WAS, the article didn't back up the headline.
Drudge had GIANT CAPS for ROVE-NO INDICTMENT, and the only problem was that the article he linked to did not say that there would be no indictments.

Go figure.

29. Love George Clooney but I don't think he knows any more than
the rest of us. Here is a quote from a 'source close to Rove' that intimates quite a different point of view:

"Rove's defense team asserts that President Bush's deputy chief of staff has not committed a crime but nevertheless anticipates that special prosecutor Patrick J. Fitzgerald could find a way to bring charges in the next two weeks, the source said."
