1. When are you gonna stop calling the Corporate Media "mainstream?"
Those whores are way out of the mainstream in my book.

NGU.

3. Not a civil war, no. The Iraqis are resistance, not insurgents.
Iraqis are fighting INVADERS; minutemen or freedom fighters or the resistance.

And the M$M has used "rebels" and "resistance" now and again.

4. You refer to Iraqis as one people. The Shiite's are actively killing
Sunni's and visa vera. We are on the side of the Shiite's. I know I am simplifying. In any case, I don't believe those active against us are insurgents.

5. I am not on the side of Islamic fundamentalists. (The Shia).
It is not a civil war in Iraq. YET.

6. Sorry, terrible slip. When I said "we" I meant our government as lead
by Bush/Rove/Cheney and certainly not the whole Country, and certainly not "me". Sorry again.

How can one tell when it becomes a civil war? A reporter embedded in an Iraqi Army unit said they (Shiite soldiers) were actively terrorizing Sunni civilians. Sorry no link for this.

8. Ahhh (whew!)
The M$M doesn't bother with things like facts, but in fact Iraqis are tribal. And pretty much every tribe in Iraq has Sunni AND Shia branches; Sunni & Shia have been marrying each other for eons (the kids call themselves 'Sushi").

TRIBES are attacking each other, that is Sunni AND Shia.

There are also a lot of "family honor" killings going on in Shia areas; "you slept with/raped my wife so I kill you and my wife" thing. Family honor killings were outlawed under Hussein; now that the Shia are in power, meaning the Islamic fundamentalist Shia clergy, family honor killings are making a huge comeback.

Then there are the Sadrists. They're Shia, the "ghetto" Shia, they're VERY extreme and oppose the Sunni and Shia. The Badr Brigade (Shia militia, tied to Iran) and the Sadrists have been killing each other (and Sunnis) since bush's invasion.

This "constitution" is very likely to spark a full-blown civil war; a lot of Shia do NOT want an Iranian-style Islamic state, which is exactly what this "constitution" is gonna give them, so you'll have a lot of Shia fighting alongside the Sunnis against other Shia.

The Kurds are secular, but they don't care about the Islamic nature of the "constitution", because it won't affect them; already the Kurds are "ethnic cleansing" cities of all non-Kurds, and they'll continue ruling themselves autonomously.

However...TURKEY is going to get seriously involved against the Kurds sooner or later.

It is not, it never has been, a "Sunni versus Shia" thing in Iraq.

7. "we're fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them here"
the people we're fighting over there are comprised of only between 4 and 10 percent non-Iraqis ... that means that roughly 90 percent of the people we're fighting "over there" have nothing to do with keeping America safe from terrorism ...

the Sunni rebels are fighting against a US-imposed Federalism that will leave the Sunni in an intolerable position ...

9. What is it called when groups intentionally target and kill civilians
and children? I'm not sure thats a civil war or rebel insergency. It sounds like murder no matter who is doing it as long as thats the main purpose and noncombatants are targeted. Attacking the police, soldiers, Americans, and government officials sounds like an insurgency or civil war.

10. If there is no established government in Iraq, how can there be an
insurgency. If in this Country, the democrats started shooting the Republicans, would they be called insurgents? Iraq has a number of factions fighting each other. When you have Shiites killing Sunni's and visa versa, how can you call one side insurgents? I am belaboring this point because, in order to justify a war, it is important to demonize the enemy. Calling the enemy insurgents sounds better to those pushing the war than calling them Iraqi rebels.
