We Stand for the People of America. We will fight for the idea that all who live here, who contribute to our society, who dream and who help build dreams, are American and equal to all other Americans. We will defend all the American families, all those who are raising the children of the future and who are trying to give them a good and stable life filled with hope and promise. We celebrate all the faiths of the American people, those who believe in a higher power and those who believe in the power of the human spirit driven by its own better angels.
We Stand for the Strength of America We will strengthen our nation by making it better at home, by lifting all from poverty and all from fear. We will strengthen our nation by putting it, for once, on the side of justice in the world. Where people struggle for and end to economic exploitation, for an end to political oppression, for an end to inequality and misery, we will support that struggle. Because a world based on justice will always be more stable and more peaceable than a world based on brute force. And stability and peace shall always be our TRUEST national interests.
We will not be afraid to use force to defend our land if need be, but we will not seek to interject force where there are other ways of solving disputes. We have learned the lessons of history, and especially the lesson of Vietnam.
We Stand for the Future of America We will do all that can be done to make this a land where injustice does not exist, where poverty does not exist, where hatred and fear do not exist.
We will try what has worked in the past, and we will be unafraid to try new methods that will be found in the days to come.
We will support those in our land who choose to devote their lives to fighting peacefully for good. We will support those who devote their lives to helping us find new ways to see the world and ourselves, and new visions of what we can aspire to within ourselves and throughout the world. We will build a land where the poet, the worker, the activist are as valued and respected as are the business owner and the banker.
We Stand for these things, because the represent the flame of hope that burns in the hearts of all Americans, burning brighter in some who are younger, dimmed by loss and grief and age but still flickering in others.
We will join all the people of this nation, from coast to coast, in this fight, so that, when it is done, we can say that all of us, at long last, are the mothers and fathers of America.
We ask for the honor of your support in this fight.
Thank you, and good night.
