A part in the Watergate saga

On August 10, 1973, as a protégé of Donald Segretti (later convicted as a Watergate conspirator)<2>, in the midst of the Watergate scandal, Rove was the subject of a Washington Post article titled "Republican Party Probes Official as Teacher of Tricks." The article, which was sourced to tape-recorded conversations, reported how the 22-year-old Rove and a colleague had been touring the country giving young Republicans "dirty tricks" training, complete with stories of derring-do such as the incident at the Dixon headquarters. At the request of then-Chairman of the Republican National Committee George H.W. Bush, Rove was questioned by the FBI.<3> Rove's contemporary Lee Atwater signed an affidavit stating that the admissions caught on tape, including the Dixon incident, were made merely "in jest." <4>

The Republican National Committee investigated and exonerated Rove, who blames political opponents from his chairmanship race for spreading false allegations. <5>

Watergate veteran and Republican critic John Dean corroborates the investigation of Rove during Watergate: "...Based on my review of the files, it appears the Watergate prosecutors were interested in Rove's activities in 1972, but because they had bigger fish to fry they did not aggressively investigate him." <6>

It was on NPR. I think a reporter wrote a book called "Bush's Brain." They interviewed the author on NPR. He told how Rove was playing these "dirty tricks" during Watergate. How the repukes investigated him but found it to be "Harmless". Later he mentioned that Rove was investigated during Watergate as well, but nothing came of it.

Remember back when Ross Perot was running for President? He said something that my husband brought up the other day. Appearing on "Larry King Live," Perot accused the Republicans of "dirty tricks" against his campaign. I wonder if our beloved Rover was responsible?

bigger fish to fry and never got around to KKKarl. An investigation by Rethugs means zilch to me.

7. YES! I remember this now. rove also was a dutiful student of lee atwater

the RNC chair during the 80's - and into bush-1's era. HE was HORRIBLE. A demon seed if ever there was one. I read about him that when he was dying of cancer (brain cancer, I think), he summoned Michael Dukakis to his deathbed to apologize for the smear-job he'd done in the 1988 campaign - when he and his trashed Dukakis and painted him as running with this convicted murderer Willie Horton, who got out on a Massachusetts weekend furlough and then committed armed robbery and rape. Dukakis was governor at the time. atwater decided to tie him to Willie Horton almost as though they were running mates. HMMM... kinda like some dirty trickster somewhere tied Max Cleland to bin Laden almost like a running mate when Cleland was running for reelection to the Senate, and got beaten by the miserable simpering chickenhawk saxby chambliss. (Gee... wonder who might have been somewhere behind that one?) There are many who consider THAT campaign smear to have cost Dukakis the election and elevated Twerp Senior to the White House.

atwater apologized to Dukakis for that smear when he felt the cold breath of the Grim Reaper wafting across the back of his neck. Maybe he finally realized he had a conscience, because it was bothering him enough to make a deathbed apology.

Anyway, rove and twerp junior learned more dirty tricks at lee atwater's knee. He was kinda like their guru. Human FILTH, all of them, for the anguish, character assassination, ruination, death, and carnage they've caused. lee atwater and kkkarl rove. Two peas in a pod. Both as heartless, soulless, vile, and fucked as one can possibly be fucked.

between KKKarl and Atwater. You would think KKKarl would have learned something from Atwater's death bed apology. I wonder how many people KKKarl should call to his deathbed to apologize? Not that I believe KKKarl would apologize.
