Just remembered something - Rumsfeld "offered" his resignation
and "Bush turned it down". I believe, Rumsfeld said he offered it more than once.

This goes to show you that Bush must really be aware that he effed things up with Miers . . . :D :D :D :D

2. Yep - but the "official story" from Rumsfeld (when people were calling
for his resignation) was that he had offered it up to Bush - and Bush had refused.

Rummy then could have done the honorable thing (ah, why did I even have the remotest idea that he would do something honorable?) and resigned anyway . . .
