On June 22, 2004, Scott McClellan said the following in his White House Press Briefing,

Q I know there are six investigations going on, but he still has a role, and he's aware of all of this.

MR. McCLELLAN: There actually is going to be a briefing later today -- I'm not ready to announce the specifics on it right now, but we will be announcing it shortly -- to talk about some of those issues. The President recognizes that his most important responsibility to the American people is their safety and security. And we are a nation that is at war, but we are also a nation of laws. And the President expects our government to comply with our laws and our treaty obligations. And he has made it very clear that --

Q How?

MR. McCLELLAN: -- we are a nation that hold these values very dear to our hearts. And we have gone to great lengths to make sure that as we wage the global war on terrorism, the detainees are treated humanely and consistent with our values and consistent with our laws and consistent with our treaty obligations. That's what the President expects, and that's -- the policies he has put in place reflect that commitment.

Well the Washington Post has again shown that Scott McClellan is just not being told anything by this administration, or is just a liar, I think the latter.

From the Washington Post.

The secret facility is part of a covert prison system set up by the CIA nearly four years ago that at various times has included sites in eight countries, including Thailand, Afghanistan and several democracies in Eastern Europe, as well as a small center at the Guantanamo Bay prison in Cuba, according to current and former intelligence officials and diplomats from three continents.

-snip-

It is illegal for the government to hold prisoners in such isolation in secret prisons in the United States, which is why the CIA placed them overseas, according to several former and current intelligence officials and other U.S. government officials. Legal experts and intelligence officials said that the CIA's internment practices also would be considered illegal under the laws of several host countries, where detainees have rights to have a lawyer or to mount a defense against allegations of wrongdoing.

Host countries have signed the U.N. Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, as has the United States. Yet CIA interrogators in the overseas sites are permitted to use the CIA's approved "Enhanced Interrogation Techniques," some of which are prohibited by the U.N. convention and by U.S. military law. They include tactics such as "waterboarding," in which a prisoner is made to believe he or she is drowning.

Do the math, he said in June of 2004 that the US was to “comply with our laws and our treaty obligations” Yet the CIA has said, we have been running these illegal prisons for 4 years.

Am I the only one that is disturbed that this administration is knowingly telling us lies, and do, in the name of the once great United States of America breaking US Law, International Law and torturing people. I do not want anyone, Republican, Democrat, Wig, anyone torturing people in my name.

Am I the only person that is sickened about the fact that everything this administration is doing is down right illegal.

Here is the reality of this, one of the revised reasons we went to war with Iraq is because Iraq was not complying with the UN, well guess what, nether are we! The Bush administration has made this nation no better than Libya, Iraq, Cuba, or any other nation that thumbs its nose at international law.
