Clark supporters, check in. Any other interested people, welcome
The message from me is to stay firm. Nobody knows what kind of shake-ups there will be in this next round of states. We need to be there in case of any big downward trends for other campaigns. We are an alternative to current US foreign policy, as well as, having a good domestic agenda. The American people DESERVE an alternative. They DESERVE an alternature to the Weekly Standard in Washington. If we hold firm and survive the shakeouts, we can remain that alternative. Do not let the media push the DLC candidates which allow this pre-emptive or preventive war mentality to stay with our country into victory nor let the party do so.

"Our country, right or wrong. When right, to be kept right; when wrong, to be put right." -Carl Shurz

"If the truth doesn't save us, what does that say about us?" - Lois McMaster Bujold.

1. I'm in
Clark is very much in this thing. A couple of wins on Tuesday (I'm looking at you, New Mexico and Oklahoma!) will get this thing moving.

By the way, tonight's debate is key.

Brokaw tipped his hand on "Meet the Press" - Clark can expect questions on "deserter-gate" and abortion.

He better have convincing answers ready.

You guys have had a really rough couple of weeks and I admire all of you who have held on. At least Dean and Clark have this much in common-both are off to less than brilliant starts and both still have lots of committed supporters. There are far worse positions to be in for a candidate.

11. I committed to Clark last Tuesday night
It took some time to make up my mind but I believe that the General is our best hope in unseating Bush*.

Having joined the group of Clark supporters, let me say this: We have a lot of work to do.

Wes Clark is not a professional politician. He will make mistakes on the campaign trail and supporters have to be very active in accentuating his qualities to overcome the little, nonconsequential gaffs the media will play up.

Our efforts; our committment will be the key to success or failure.

The General's strong character and honesty will go a long way toward his election but I learned a long time ago, that the strength of a campaign is in the committment of its supporters.

Roll up the sleeves. Put on your armor. Get to work.

15. Place your bets: In tonight's debate, how many questions
Edited on Thu Jan-29-04 11:27 AM by Jack_Dawson
directed to General Clark will be about policy, and how many will concern quotes or positions he's advocated in the past?

My guess: 0 policy questions, 7 "clarification" (i.e. setup) questions.

I hope he gives it right back to them by ridiculing the question and the questioner.

nah... he'll get 5. Because Edwards will get 10 follow up questions like he got last time.

I think the real question isnt whether he'll be asked if he's a republican again, it's how many times.

Again - why Brokaw the Tool is moderating. Why not Moyers or Cronkite or someone else.

The questions for Clark in the debate:

"When do you believe life begins?"

"No, General, f*** all that 'law' bullsh*t, when do YOU believe life begins?"

"Why do you want to kill little babies, Lieutenant?"

"Michael Moore said that our favorite president was a deserter. Why have you not yet called for his lynching?"

"Don't you think it's reckless to call our favorite president a deserter?"

"Don't you think that Michael Moore is a rat-bastard?"

"Why do you want to murder little babies, but still let Michael Moore live?"

16. Clark is the candidate who has it all. He needs to get his confidence back
like he did before and remember that he's a four star General who has tangled with much worse than the American media. He was beat up on really bad by the media in the last week and maybe could have handled it better but Clark is a fighter. He needs to get mad and start kicking some serious butt.

Right now his expectations are so low for the debate that I think he will look good no matter what....

Edited on Thu Jan-29-04 12:15 PM by Nashyra
Spent all day outside in the NH cold at the polling places, I was there all weekend working with my Korean war Vet father and son and his roomate. We flew in from Nevada. Clark is the most cordial and respectful person I have ever met. He was so respectful to my dad and knew exactly where and what he was doing in Korea. We met Wes Jr. the next day and my dad introduced himself and he recalled his dad talking about a "Korean War Vet" that he had met, it was my dad. This man cares and he pays attention. My motivation to work for him is even stronger.

Excellent analysis. Sounds like the general has his feet on the ground and is working his ass off to make this get better (unlike some others who are blaming others for their problems).

And I still love the hand of cards we are playing to win this nomination. And if we win the nomination, we will cream George Bush.

Wesley Clark repudiates the war and he will George Bush like a drum. He is a gift to the Democratic party. If we can accept the gift, we will change politics in this country more than any of us dreamed of.

I was extremely wary of his background, but he has proven himself to be an honorable man who suffered the consequences. Where in the past I doubted him, I noted his willingness to defend rather than renounce Michael Moore when it would have been politically expedient to do so. And his campaign, thus far, has even been less mired in political positioning than Kucinich's. Respect when respect is due.

waivered one iota. I truly did not expect General Clark to win in New Hampshire, so I'm not disappointed. Now, if only Brokow will let him speak tonight, instead of asking him stupid questions. They are doing everything in their power to keep Clark's positions from being known. When Brokow asks the stupid question, Clark will just shit on the question and begin talking about something else -- just like he did to Timmy Russert.

Trying to change minds in this part of MO (from Republican) is a little difficult. This is "blunt" country, but I sure try

Okay, I thought maybe some of the talk was exaggerated about Clark not getting air time. Just now on CNN.....NOTHING ....NADA

Schneider talked about every other candidate except Clark. grrrrrrr

88. The Blob is in
Till the end!

I'm ABB, but I'm not quitting the Clark campaign until he does.

I was on the computer till 3am Tuesday night waiting for that last 3% to come in.
The next morning I stopped off at my local campaign headquarters to pick up a half dozen Clark buttons and to offer myself as a volunteer.

Not only can Clark beat Bush, but he can expose fundamental GOP hypocrisy, take the patriotism issue off Bush's table, and shatter the myth once and for all that Democrats are weak on defense.
I'm through being kicked around by these Right-Wing thugs.
It's time to put them in their place.

This Left-Wing Liberal is 100% behind the General!

92. Hey mmonk, I'm not one of those quasi-supporters that'll shop around
for a new candidate at the first hint of trouble.
I shopped around months ago; I picked a man who is *by far*
the best candidate. I'm on board the train all the way.

I appreciate your post! Solidarity! But no worries from this
Wes Winger. Wes is simply the best.

Edited on Thu Jan-29-04 04:16 PM by andym
Clark is just a regular guy, albeit a man of accomplishment, trying to get a chance to serve his country again. To do this he must participate in "presidential politics", a very strange game with absurd rules and loaded with nastiness. I support him and salute him for his integrity and courage!

101. Cool!
A Clark Fan *AND* a Bujold fan! Sweet!

(obBujold comment: Does that mean we can call Clark "The Little General" ;-) )

Agreed, I'm in it for the long haul. Clark did well in New Hampshire against two New Englanders, something the media doesn't like to comment on. I think next tuesday is going to have him with at least one state in the #1 position, and a batch of #2's and #3's.

One main difference between Kerry and Clark was that the media was willing to write Kerry off until Iowa, but they've *ALWAYS* tried to write Clark off from day one. I expect them to continue the "mentally ill" meme if they can't write him off that easily though. However, I have faith that Clark, his supporters, and the American voter can see though the smoke and mirrors the media provides, and send Clark to the White House in November. After all, the media tried to write Clinton off against Bush 41 - and look what happened. Clark can do the same, if not better. And then maybe we can get people in the DLC and Democrats in the House and Senate who want to win, rather than be the GOP's whipping boys and lapdogs.
