ANWR – Wisconsin Correction – Green Supports ANWR

Earlier today we sent you an e-mail that had Congressman Mark
Green (R-WI) listed as opposing oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

That is not correct.

Rep. Green’s staff has assured us that he supports ANWR but is undecided about how to vote on the Budget Reconciliation Bill. We believe it is likely he will support the Budget Reconciliation Bill.

We do not believe it is necessary to call Rep. Mark Green’s office.

But we do want you to call Rep. Tom Petri (R-WI) as soon as you can at
(202) 225-2476 – FAX: (202) 225-2356

We believe he still opposes drilling in the Artic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR).

By making your calls, you empower private property rights and resource use in America. You protect America’s energy independence and you will ultimately lower gas prices by adding a huge amount of American owned oil to our inventory.

Don’t let those who would damage America’s future and the future of our economy win. Urge your Congressman to support ANWR and the Budget Reconciliation bill.

Thank you in advance to calling Congressman Petri.

Please forward this message widely in Wisconsin.

1. While you're at it, why not take Teddy Roosevelt's face
off Mount Rushmore. You could sell ad space there.

I mean, how can we POSSIBLY avoid drilling in ANWR? What do you expect us to do? CONSERVE? Why, that's UN-AMERICAN!

4. Private property rights?
Edited on Wed Nov-09-05 09:29 PM by marbuc
Isn't it called Alaska National Wildlife Refuge? That would make it public property, no? I say if their going to drill, no public money should be used to subsidize it. Oil companies are making record profits, if economically viable they should finance it their damn selves.

would that make sense? how much oil? how long before its available? who will be the end-user? how much will it cost? Is it worth it? Sure doesn't make sense to me.

6. I think the best response is to
contact as many of your friends as possible and have them call Green and Petri and urge them to oppose drilling in ANWR. By sending out this e-mail they're signaling that they are at work so the opposition in Wisconsin should be mobilizing too.

10. America's energy independence will be ill-served ...
... by tapping the ANWR reserves now. Increasing domestic oil production will hasten the day when we become truly dependent on foreign supplies, because it will accelerate the depletion of our finite resources.

World oil production is at its peak and headed for a steady decline, as demand increases by emerging industrial nations. Fifty or one hundred years from now our ANWR reserves will have considerably more value and importance -- unless it has already been drained for short term profit and long term short-sightedness.

The same administration that will leave a legacy of debt to our grandchildren will, if they get their way, leave them without natural resources.

When it comes to private property rights, the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is the property of the American people -- the majority of whom oppose drilling there.

11. No, no, no
ANWAR drilling isn't even about oil. It's about the contracts to get there and drill. It doesn't matter if there's cheese in the ground/
