the House.

Listening to O'Really on the car radio on my way home from work, because the AAR station out of Boulders fades out at night, and he was not very optimistic about Repubs chances. His guest was Larry Sabato, who said if this had been the mid-term election, Republicans would have lost the House and the Senate. They were of the opinion that the only person that can save the Republican Party is George W Bush...

.. Sorta makes sense if he actually makes a comeback (which won't happen) in the polls, They'll probably not lose too many seats in 06. But that's jsut wishful thinking on their part. I'm glad O liely actually agrees now...

3. No kidding
The margins scream at that truth. We're not supposed to win by those numbers in Virginia or even New Jersey. Elections are much more about preference than GOTV and this year the preference tilt would have been several points in our direction across the board in statewide races. It was abominable bad luck the current political climate was this year not a presidential or midterm cycle.

I'll be ripped but I fully expect Bush's approval numbers to rebound significantly by this time next year. It's similar to sports, you can't play at the extremes for very long. Even Tiger only won the Masters by huge margin just once. Bush's ratings won't linger in this range for a full year any more than they had a chance of staying at the post 9/11 levels.
